English Premier League Betting Preview
Punters have 6 live EPL games to get involved in on Monday and we suggest a bet in each.
Middlesbrough v Leicester– click here to bet
Middlesbrough start the New Year in 16th place just 4 points ahead of the relegation zone. They looked like pulling off a stunning upset away to Man United on Saturday but conceded 2 late goals and have now lost 4 of their last 5 matches.
Leicester broke a run of 3 games without a victory when they edged West Ham 1-0 at home on Old Years Eve and they now sit 2 points above Middlesbrough in 15th spot. Their away form has been their downfall and they have only taken 2 points from 18 on their travels.
Suggested Bet: The draw at 22/10
I have a feeling that the crucial win over West Ham could be something of a turnaround for the defending champions and I fancy them to take a point on what should be a close game.
Sunderland v Liverpool – click here to bet
Sunderland are in 18th spot on the table on 14 points after 19 games. They went down 4-1 away to Burnley on Sunday their 4th defeat in 5 matches. They have averaged just over a point a game at home.
Liverpool kept the pressure on leaders Chelsea with a hard fought 1-0 win over Man City at Anfield on Sunday. It was their 4th successive victory and they have averaged 2 points per game on the road. Their last 2 away matches have come without conceding a goal, 1-0 at Everton and 3-0 at Middlesbrough.
Suggested Bet: Liverpool clean sheet – YES at 19/20
For all of Liverpool’s attacking prowess they have shored up their defence and 3 of their last 4 away matches have been clean sheets.
Everton v Southampton – click here to bet
Everton go into the New Year in 7th spot on 27 points, a full 9 points behind 6th placed Manchester United. They were disappointing in a 2-2 away draw with Hull on the 31st of December and their previous home match was a 1-0 defeat by Liverpool.
Things have turned in the wrong direction for Southampton and they are coming off successive home defeats to Spurs (4-1) and West Brom (2-1). They are 9th on the table and did win their last away match 3-1 at Bournemouth.
Suggested Bet: Everton win at 11/10
I expect this to be a tight game but Everton will surely improve on their Hull performance and at home they are not an easy side to play. They can add to Southampton’s current bad run with a victory.
West Brom v Hull City – click here to bet
West Brom were coming off successive defeats away to Arsenal and at home to Man United on Sunday when they travelled to Southampton. They fell behind early but came back to take the 3 points and currently sit in 8th position on the log. They have taken 9 of a possible 12 points in their last 4 home matches.
Hull fought hard and were perhaps unlucky to only draw 2-2 with Everton at home on Sunday. The point lifted them to 19th on the table but they are 4 points clear of getting out of the relegation zone. Hull have only had 1 win on the road in 9 starts and their last 4 away matches have been defeats to nil.
West Brom 7/10
Hull City 9/2
Suggested Bet: West Brom win at 7/10
I am going to keep this simple as I think West Brom are the bet of the weekend against a Hull side that can’t score on the road and must be deflated after dropping more crucial points at home.
Manchester City v Burnley – click here to bet
City return home after their 1-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday. They are 3rd on the table but a full 10 points behind Chelsea as they take the turn for home. They had won their previous 3 fixtures including home wins over Arsenal and Watford.
Burnley head into New Year in 11th spot on the table a full 9 points clear of the relegation zone. They beat Sunderland 4-1 at home on Sunday but their away form is awful with 1 draw and 7 defeats in 8 matches. They have lost their last 4 games on the road conceding 9 goals while scoring just 1.
Manchester City 1/6
Suggested Bet: Over 3.5 goals at 21/20
37% of City matches have had over 3.5 goals and while the odds don’t offer standout value on that stat, Burnley have been so poor on the road and have conceded 29 goals in just 8 matches.
West Ham United v Manchester United – click here to bet
West Ham were disappointing in losing to Leicester 1-0 away on Sunday. They are 13th on the table and have taken 14 points from a possible 27 at home. They have won their last 2 home matches by 1-0 against Hull and Burnley.
Manchester United came from behind to beat Middlesbrough with 2 goals in the last 5 minutes at Old Trafford on Sunday. It was their 5th successive victory and they have now taken 10 points from their last 12 on the road.
West Ham 9/2
Manchester United 6/10
Suggested Bet: Both Teams to Score (BTTS) – YES at 17/20
I fancy United to win this but they have conceded over a goal a game on the road and West Ham look well capable of finding the net.
