English Premier League Preview Tuesday
We preview all 7 live English Premier League matches for Tuesday night with the Liverpool v Chelsea clash definitely the pick of the bunch.
Liverpool v Chelsea– click here to bet
Liverpool are currently in 4th spot in the League 10 points behind Chelsea and without a win in their last 3 matches. The last week has seen them dumped out of the EFL Cup by Southampton in the semi-finals and they also went down 2-1 at home to Wolves in the FA Cup 4th round on the weekend. Their last League match at Anfield was a 3-2 loss to Swansea and 7 out of 10 Liverpool home matches have had 3 goals or more.
Chelsea are well in control of the EPL title race with 55 points, 8 clear of their nearest challengers Arsenal. They had few problems advancing to the last 16 of the FA Cup beating Brentford 4-0 at home on the weekend and their last League match was a 2-0 home win over Hull. They have taken 21 of the last 24 points on the road but Chelsea away games have been on the lower scoring side with only 5 reaching 3 goals in their 11 matches.
Liverpool won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Suggested bet: Chelsea win at 19/10.
Liverpool are struggling at the back and unfortunately for them they have suddenly found something of a goal drought as well. Chelsea are playing superb football and can win this consolidating their position at the top of the table.
Sunderland v Tottenham Hotspur – click here to bet
Sunderland are currently rock bottom of the EPL log and have only taken 1 point from the last 15 on offer in the League. Their last home match was a 3-1 defeat to Stoke and Sunderland home games have been entertaining with 8 of their 11 matches having 3 goals or more in them.
Spurs go into this match in 3rd spot, 9 points behind Chelsea. They looked dead and buried in a home FA Cup match on the weekend but came from behind to beat Wycombe by 4-3. They also came from behind to draw 2-2 away to Manchester City and this halted a 6-game winning streak in the League. 6 of their 11 away matches have delivered for over 2.5 goal backers.
Spurs won at White Hart Lane 1-0 earlier in the season and they also won this fixture by 1-0 in 2015.
Suggested bet: Both teams to score, yes, at 19/20
Sunderland have not had a problem scoring goals at home but they have conceded too many and there should be chances at both ends.
Swansea v Southampton – click here to bet
Swansea have finally climbed off the foot of the table and are currently sitting in 17th spot just 2 points above the relegation zone. Their last League match was a 3-2 away victory at Liverpool but they have lost their last 3 matches at home conceding at least 3 goals on each occasion. Swansea home games have been high scoring with 9 of the 11 fixtures delivering 3 goals or more.
Southampton sit 9 points above Swansea on the table in 11th position. They have had a very busy start to 2016 and have booked their spot in the EFL Cup final while exiting the FA Cup at the hands of Arsenal on the weekend. They have lost their last 2 away matches against Burnley and Everton without troubling the scorers.
Southampton won the reverse fixture 1-0 at home and they also won this fixture by 1-0 last season.
Suggested bet: Over 2.5 goals at 1/1.
The goals flowing in the Swansea home games and 6 of Southampton’s 11 away matches have also had 3 goals or more and the price looks fair enough.
Bournemouth v Crystal Palace – click here to bet
Bournemouth are 12th on the log but are without a win in their last 3 League matches. Their last home game was a 2-2 draw against Watford and 7 of their 11 home matches have delivered for over 2.5 goal backers.
Crystal Palace are struggling under new manager Sam Allardyce and are currently down in 18th spot on 16 points. They have only taken 2 points from the last 24 on offer in the League and have lost their last 4 matches in succession. A similar stat applies to their away form, they have only drawn 3 and have had 5 defeats in their last 8 matches. Crystal Palace away matches have averaged 3.8 goals per game.
The sides drew 1-1 at Palace earlier in the season and this fixture was drawn 0-0 in 2015.
Crystal Palace 5/2
Suggested bet: Over 2.5 goals at 17/20.
The last 3 Bournemouth home games have seen 14 goals scored and I expect action at both ends here.
Middlesbrough v West Bromwich – click here to bet
Middlesbrough are currently in 16th spot and have not won in their last 5 League matches. Their last League match was a 3-1 home defeat to West Ham and they have battled in front of their own fans only winning 3 of 11 matches. Middlesbrough home matches have only averaged 2.1 goals per game with 5 of their 11 matches delivering under 2.5 goals.
West Brom continue to punch above their weight and they currently sit 8th on the EPL log. Their last game was a 2-0 home victory over Sunderland but they have lost 3 of their last 4 League matches on the road including a 4-0 reverse to Tottenham last time out. West Brom away matches have been low scoring with only 4 of the 11 reaching 3 goals.
The sides played to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture and last season West Brom trounced Middlesbrough 5-0 on the road.
West Brom 2/1
Suggested bet: The draw at 21/10.
I was hoping for an under 2.5 goal bet but the price is understandably short at 9/20. There should not be a lot in this game and I think the draw was a big runner at a shade over 2/1.
Arsenal v Watford – click here to bet
Arsenal were impressive 5-0 winners at Southampton in the FA Cup 4th round match on the weekend and they currently sit 2nd in the League 8 points behind Chelsea. Their last League action was a 2-1 home win over Burnley and they have won their last 5 League home matches. Arsenal home matches have averaged 3.1 goals a game and 7 of the 11 games have delivered for over 2.5 goal backers.
Watford continue to battle in the League and have slipped to 14th spot just 8 points clear of the relegation zone. Their last League action was a 2-2 away draw at Bournemouth and they are now 7 League matches without a win. Watford away matches averaged just 2.8 goals each and 7 of these matches have had 2 goals or less in them.
The Gunners won 3-1 at Watford earlier in the season and they also won this fixture by 4-0 last year.
Suggested bet: Goals home team 3 or more at 19/20.
It has been 3 home matches since Arsenal managed to score 3 goals in front of their own fans but with returning players slotting easily into the setup I can see Arsenal banging quite a few past Watford.
Burnley v Leicester City – click here to bet
Burnley are currently in 13th spot on the table on 26 points. Amazingly 25 of these points have come at home. They were last seen in action in a 2-1 away defeat at Arsenal but they have won 4 in a row at home most recently seeing off Southampton by 1-0.
Leicester City are two positions behind them in 15th spot in the League and they have yet to win on the road managing just 3 points from 33 on offer. They were beaten 3-0 away by Southampton last time out and Leicester away matches have had 3 goals or more on them on 8 of 11 occasions.
The defending champions did win the reverse fixture 3-0 at home to Burnley and last season they won this game by 1-0.
Leicester City 16/10
Suggested bet: Burnley win at 18/10.
Leicester have been playing better football but it is impossible to ignore the stats and Burnley once again look to have been under-estimated by the bookmakers.
