Gleneagles wins the 2000 Guineas
The 4-1 favourite Gleneagles claimed a convincing victory on Saturday in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, the year’s first Classic.
It was a first win in the race for former champion jockey Ryan Moore but a record-equalling seventh success for trainer Aidan O’Brien.

The masterful Joey Ramsden wrote another personal chapter in the South African racing history books at Kenilworth on Sunday when he saddled the winners of two colts’ Guineas within the space of twenty four hours – for the same owners and ridden by the same jockey.

Justin Snaith and his stable jockey Richard Fourie put the disappointment of Greyville on Saturday behind them in cavalier style when Trippi’s smart chestnut daughter Sunset Tripp swooped late down the rail to grab honours in a multiple short head finish to the R150 000 Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes at Kenilworth on Sunday.
