510 000 000 Yen baby debuts tomorrow

A colt that broke all records in the sales ring in Japan last year will make his debut on Saturday.
His name is pretty familiar to punters down under and in the UK, with the two-year-old son of Deep Impact carrying the moniker of ‘Shonan Addeybb’.
Shonan Addeybb is trained by Tomokazu Takano for owner Tetsuhide Kunimoto, who forked out a whopping 510,000,000 yen (about A$6.2 million) for him at the sales in July last year.
Japanese businessman Kunimoto and trainer Takano have teamed up with success before - Shonan Pandora one of their success stories when the mare claimed the 2015 Japan Cup.
It’d be similar heights - you’d think - that would be on the mind of connections with Shonan Addeybb after he cost a small fortune to secure at the Japan Racing Horse Association Select Sale.
However, racing is renowned for being a great leveller - Shonan Addeybb’s full brother Satono Sky Turf has won once from eight starts, a Chukyo 3YO mile maiden.
The family’s form, though, isn’t all modest - Shonan Addeybb’s half-sister Cathryn Sophia won the Kentucky Oaks in the US.
Another half-sister, by Aussie sire Denman, also raced in the US, winning two of her seven starts in low-grade races.
The form of the mare Sheave's foals didn't stop buyers from spending big for two of her colts last year - Shonan Addeybb's half-brother (by Heart's Cry) went for 210m yen (about A$2.5m) the day after his eye-watering sale.
