Rest In Peace Galileo. Brilliant horse and now a legendary sire.
I think he is on 91 or 92 individual Grade 1 winners. Galileo does have a runner in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks tonight. I hope he does get to the century mark.

What terrible news. Surely the best sire ever. One can go backwards and say what about Sadler's wells and then northern dancer. Then skip one to nearco whose two grandsons were northern dancer and bold ruler. I suppose as a sire of sires northern dancer is the best but as a sire of race horses Galileo is the very best

Very sad news.Certainly the leading stallion over the last 20 odd years and produced Frankel, arguably the best ever.

Bolshoi Ballet Storms Home for Galileo in Belmont Derby
By virtue of his 1 1/4-length victory in the 1 1/4-mile opening leg of the New York Racing Association's Turf Triple for 3-year-olds under Ryan Moore for legendary European trainer Aidan O'Brien, Bolshoi Ballet will go into the record books as the 92nd grade or group 1 winner sired by Galileo

Was surprised to see a son of Frankel making it's debut in a hurdles race at Perth ( UK) today.
Ran 2nd and will be winning soon.

@Sylvester. Its a local Group One Race and will not count. Hong Kong is not a Part One country. Only the International races in December has Group 1 Status. Although, Saudi Arabia, is not a Part One country it has managed to get Group One status for the Saudi Cup due to the strong ratings of the first two runnings. I read on Bloodhorse that Canada will only have two Group One races this year due to the poor fields the last two years partly due to Covid. The Group One races have been put on hold.
Italy has no Group One races currently.
South Africa better gets its act together or we shall be downgraded.
Germany is still going with many Group Ones and their runners can perform. We must learn from them.
Singapore has lost the Grade One status that they had.
