The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore?

Good afternoon from a rainy Kloof.

To be fair this place has a similar rain pattern to Scotland but the sun did shine yesterday and
It's obviously hotter.

My song this week is from the Walker Brothers and they were a very talented group.
They were never brothers and only Gary is still alive.
Their names were not Walker and they were not British but from California, just dispelling old rumours. .

Considering the current state of racing plus weather conditions it's probably an appropriate song as my other song from them was Make It Easy On Yourself, that is certainly not the case 4RACING after a rather shocking first couple of weeks.😪
I really did not expect this after the anticipation?

We had the Tote result from Jebel Ali still not explained and many other erratic dividends and scrolls without fixed odds.
I am aware that 4Racing did show some transparency when announcing that they were not involved in Tellytrack.
Was fairly sure that 4Racing brought Dom Zaki on board and then heard Brandon asking Dom for help in the TT studio?

Have heard of various conspiracy theories behind the scenes on what is going on and as far as the punters are concerned we would just like an announcement when we will actually get what we were expecting, a more professional product to watch racing and a competitive transparent tote machine to give us some confidence.

We still have the Cyril cloud also hanging over us for the festive season but have booked the New Year, Fleetwood Mac tribute in anticipation that it will take place 🤞

Very proud of Candice, Tammy and Kathryn and the team for a great performance on Saturday and a new addition to the stable GREAT SCOTT and hope we can have as much fun as HUMBLE TUNE.

Jumps are underway but Covid might also put a damper on Cheltenham where the early money is down for Honeysuckle (Hurdle) Shishkin (chase) A Plus Tard for the Cup and Rachael to be leading rider and pick up World Sports Star of the Year .
I think it's 15.00 hrs on Tuesday.

We still have some good local racing over the next few weeks in the Cape and hopefully the sun can again shine on racing .

Good Punting and may your God be with you 🙏

Just one last footnote, we (Mrs S and myself) actually went to see the Walker Brothers at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh late 60s but had not met each other at that stage .

Morning Jason hope u are well?
Keeping to the theme Kloof was boiling yesterday and pouring last night and 100% rain for today.

We were a Shongewni yesterday, have been to Stockers and the Country Club (excellent).
Hillcrest also good Irish pub and railway pub.

However breaking news Tina's has been sold and big development plans for future, new pub/restaurants and old folks home development 😀
So could be like the Hotel California for us "we can check out any time we like, but can never leave " .

Good Punting

Dave

On the subject of Rachael

Rachael Blackmore, Henry de Bromhead and Honeysuckle completed yet another clean sweep at a major awards ceremony on Wednesday when dominating the 2021 Horse Racing Ireland Awards following an unforgettable season.

Honeysuckle was crowned horse of the year, her trainer De Bromhead won the National Hunt award while Blackmore had already been announced as the Irish Racing Hero after her triumphs at the Cheltenham Festival and in the Grand National.

The sun is shining at Greyville and certainly continues to shine for Rachael 👏

Record-breaker Rachael Blackmore was crowned the RTE Sport Sportsperson of the Year at an awards ceremony on Saturday evening.

Blackmore made history last season by becoming the first female jockey to win the leading rider award at the Cheltenham Festival, in a week when Honeysuckle played a starring role in the Champion Hurdle.

A great season became a magical one when Blackmore smashed another record, this time becoming the first female to win the Aintree Grand National aboard another Henry de Bromhead-trained horse, Minella Times.

Blackmore fought off competition from boxers Kellie Harrington and Katie Taylor, golfer Leona Maguire, paralympians Ellen Keane and Jason Smyth, Limerick hurdler Cian Lynch and Meath footballer Vikki Wall.

The Sportsperson of the Year award sugar-coated an amazing week for Blackmore, who was also crowned HRI Irish Racing Hero

5 races down at Geraldton Australia and all 5 won by female jockeys.
3 for Lisa Staples and 2 for Natasha Faithfull.
It just shows it's not a mans sport and the women ride better than a lot of male jockeys over there.
If they can do so well in Australia imagine what they could do here in SA against some of this lot we got riding.
