Race 1: Chara Sands with the appeal up makes the most appeal. Small field and I imagine a very quick run.

Race 2: Going to dutch the favorite and go with top honors

Race 3: Hard to play has proven its ability with the various grade one contenders and has triumphed

Race 4: Park and Fly's last run can be ignored and can make it happen.

Race 5: Super Silver is my best bet of the day.

Race 6: Ikigai now carries top weight gets Gavin Lerena up and is a live raider

Race 7: Very open race we have live runners from graded races and nursery runners from KZN. Most appealing of all is Zimbaba

Race 8: Value bet for me is Gentleman's Way B)

Race 9: Alpenhorn seems to be looking for the mile (2000m). French masterpiece has flopped and Giambatista's plan has not been suited to its liking. If you look at the race of Belle's first wave was traveling well until hit a brick wall. I'll forgive its last run.

why are they racing over 2100 meters?
Is it a boxing day tradition or just make the punters life more difficult?

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE 26 DECEMBER
-Andrew Harrison
1
4 SONNENSTRAHL 3 GUY FOX 7 CHARA SANDS 8 GERONIMO
Preview: SONNENSTRAHL (4) has disappointed twice on the Highveld starting odds-on on debut. The tongue=tie goes on and he may be worth another chance. GUY FOX (3) is a battling maiden but has come good of late and was narrowly beaten in his last outing. This seems to be his best trip. CHARA SANDS (7) has been much improved in blinkers. The form hasn’t quite worked out but he must still have a decent chance. GERONIMO (8 ) looks held but goes well this trip and should be concerned in the finish. (Andrew Harrison: 4-3-7-8 ).
2
6 AMARANDI 9 AJRAAS 4 TOP HONOURS 5 MODESTY BLAZE
Preview: AMARANDI (6) has improved with each outing. Stayed on well for second last start and should go close again. AJRAAS (9) raced green on debut and did not finish far back. Should make big improvement. TOP HONOURS (4) has made good improvement in blinkers. Has been trying further but should be effective over this shorter trip. MODESTY BLAZE (5) looks to be coming along the right way. Extra furlong should suit. (Andrew Harrison: 6-9-4-5).
3
4 FULL BLAST 7 DANDOLO 5 VIA SALARIA 10 SNIPER SHOT
Preview: Tricky handicap where the majority of the field have winning chances. FULL BLAST (4) made a cracking comeback after a lengthy break when taking on Gr1 company in the Daily News. He seems best this shorter trip. DANDOLO (7) sprints well and has a handy weight which counts in his favour. VIA SALARIA (5) was narrowly beaten at his last two over 1400m but is down in class. SNIPER SHOT (10) finally cracked another win after three years in the doldrums but has been shunted up six points. He won well enough to suggest that he can follow up. AD ALTISIMA (2) and GIACOMO PUCCINI (3) are others to consider. (Andrew Harrison: 4-7-5-10).
4
10 PARK AND FLY 11 SIEGE OF ORLEANS 9 BLAZING ASTUTE 8 ALWAYS ON TIME
Preview: Tricky maiden. PARK AND FLY (10) was a touch unlucky last run when caught wide throughout. Can do better here. SIEGE OF ORLEANS (11) seems better than her last effort and the extra should suit. ALWAYS ON TIME (8 ) was still green last run but should know better know and the step up in trip should suit. BLAZING ASTUTE (9) has shown some fair form over shorter. Lightly raced and can make good improvement. (Andrew Harrison: 10-11-9-8 ).
5
11 MYSTERY BOY 13 CHEWBACA 4 ATOMIC BLONDE 14 KHIZA
Preview: Difficult staying race. MYSTERY BOY (11) goes very well this trip but is still improving and has a chance again. CHEWBACA (13) is half a kilo better off with Mystery Boy but is another that stays the trip well and should be right up there again. Both stables are in form. ATOMIC BLONDE (4) was close-up over the trip at the Vaal last time out when going the distance for the first time. KHIZA (14) has a light weight and although up in class he does have some scope. (Andrew Harrison: 11-13-4-14).
6
10 MOUNT PLEASANT 3 CROWN TOWERS 13 LET’S TWIST AGAIN 1 SOUND OF SUMMER
Preview: MOUNT PLEASANT (10) showed promise early n his career before going off form. He appears to have found his mojo with a new stable and can follow up on his last win, albeit on an objection. CROWN TOWERS (3) is very well in under the conditions and was back to his best when winning easily last run. The one to beat. LET’S TWIST AGAIN (13) ran a cracker first up out of the maidens. He jumps in class here but has a light weight. SOUND OF SUMMER (1) has consistent Highveld form and has started favourite at his last five starts. He has the best of the draw. (Andrew Harrison: 10-3-13-1).
7
3 MOUNT LAUREL 11 ZIMBABA 4 LYRICAL DANCE 8 LOVE BOMB
Preview: MOUNT LAUREL (3) showed some useful form at the tail end of last season in top company. She has had two warm-ups leading into this event and looks primed. ZIMBABA (11) has the worst of the draw but showed up well in her seasonal debut and was right up there at the end of late season. LYRICAL DANCE (4) is not well in at the weights but has put in two promising efforts for her new stable and the blinkers go on. LOVE BOMB (8 ) made no show on a trip to the Highveld. She can do better this trip and has an upset chance. (Andrew Harrison: 3-11-4-8 ).
8
2 SPIRIT OF MY FATE 7 PRINCE PF TARANTO 3 PINK FLOYD 9 FARLAND
Preview: SPIRIT OF MY FATE (2) is holding form well and is due a change of fortune. Good drawn and over his optimum trip. PRINCE OF TARANTO (7) has come good in blinkers. He looks held by Spirit Of My Fate on their last meeting but there should not be much in it. FARLAND (9) gave plenty of cheek when runner-up last start. He too has come good of late and Marcus gets the ride. PINK FLOYD (3) only got going late when runner-up last start. He is useful on his day and can make a bold bid. (Andrew Harrison: 2-7-3-9).
9
3 FRENCH MASTERPIECE 4 MR MOLONY 11 PURPLE OPERATOR 6 PEDRO
Preview: FRENCH MASTERPIECE (3) is lightly raced but ran a cracker from a tough draw last start. He has a lot in his favour. MR MOLONY (4) is coming along the right way and looks set to make a bold bid. PURPLE OPERATOR (11) has a tough draw but has been consistent and should enjoy this shorter trip. PEDRO (6) raced green in a promising debut and is likely to make good improvement. (Andrew Harrison: 3-4-11-6).

Interestingly in 2001,the mare, Dancal, won the Christmas Handicap and less than a week later won the Flamboyant Stakes at Greyville. Now both races are run on the same day.

Dancal...Irish bred mare?

6 Passage Of Power 16.67 12.50 7.14 6.25 5.00 4.55 3.57 2.27 2.00 1.82 1.67 1.52 1.43 1.52 1.67 1.43 1.52

Well that gamble backfired badly for the Robbie Hill stable.
Never ever looked like winning.
