Standby Meetings and Choosing of Venues

I mentioned yesterday in another thread that there should be a standby meeting to replace another meeting if a venue gets cancelled for whatever reason.

Today though, Leopardstown, has Group 1 racing but there is no exotics. What is more concerning is that local racing was finishing at 16h25.

Honeysuckle the brilliant undefeated mare runs at 17h00 Race 5. They had a chance to include a Jackpot as there are eight races carded. Who chooses the venues but we shall see Musselburgh with exotics offered there.

Naresh I ask this question every week - Good luck getting a response. Clearly all that matters is having someone there doing the admin task of loading the venues, rather than maximizing turnover. Useless.

I stand to be corrected but this is the second Thursday in a row that there is no exotics for an Australian venue. Penrith last race is at 13h15. You paying for the visuals but not offering exotics on it.

Yesterday Dundalk, only three races was covered and the last race ignored.

The Saudi Cup meeting is next week, will they cover it? I see they are still looking for an eight lady rider for the jockey challenge and Rachel Venniker could have been an ideal candidate. Its probably too late now for her to go and ride there next Friday which is a pity.

Also they need to ask themselves why on the World Pools on Met Day 2022 the last race, a handicap race had the biggest pools. Its simple, its due to the field size. The bigger the field size the bigger the wagering barring a feature race. This happens in every pari mutuel racing country. When choosing they need to choose venues with good field sizes. This in particular in the UK. You can cover the Grade 1 meeting but if there is another UK centre with sizable fields it should be included.

Naresh don't waste your time typing stuff that makes sense. Ask Eram and Durbs how much this gets listened to.

No Australian meeting for exotics covered for today. This is mostly happening when there is a Gauteng Meeting. Revenue lost again.

Naresh do you think the person that is deciding these things even understands the difference between a trifecta floating Banker and a trifecta boxed.
They probably see commingled exacta pools in the thousands each race every morning and think that the local tote is getting all the takeout from that  . With that view, why even bother having local exotics?

In future, I have to mention those bet types. The past Saturday, Kenilworth racing was starting late. They had Melton and also Toowoomba but Toowoomba got cancelled.

Look on the brightside......
If 4Q fail, and they look very likely, then hopefully Betfred will take over and we will have an organisation who actually know what they doing.
Just hope 4Q don't leave it in such a mess that nobody will want anything to do with our racing.

There is Group Racing in Longchamp in the evening including a Group 1 but our Tote and broadcast is for the first five races only. But there are covering French racing from an obscure venue tonight. Eldar Eldarov runs in the Group 1 and is undefeated raiding from the UK. Morrison who normally do well with stayers has the favorite Quickthorn in the staying race.

Then today is the start of the Saratoga meet in the USA but there is no coverage at all. Its the arguably best meet in the USA for almost two months with the Travers Stakes the headliner. I won't be surprised that they show Gulfstream and Woodbine first than Saratoga.

Whoever chooses the venue's seriously has no insight on International racing.

4Racing released a statement that they will cover the best races Internationally but failing dismally although they have the authority to broadcast it.

Morning Dave
As discussed,
We do not have rights in place as yet for Saratoga (USA).
With regards to Longchamp we haven’t acquired rights to show it on Racing 240 as yet only on streaming (4Racing.tv) Longchamp meeting today will be on GR2

So when the Arc takes place, everything should be in order?

Saratoga is a NYRA track. They showed racing from Aqueduct and Belmont. So is it a financial issue then? They did broadcast racing from Saratoga last year. As I mention before its the best meet in the USA, with the Travers Stakes and last year the Jockey Gold Cup was moved there. Hope they do get the rights.
