Kotzen-Fourie partnership is worth watching

GlenKotzen 1

Trainer Glen Kotzen and jockey Richard Fourie have teamed up for nine wins so far this month and they could add at least another two to their partnership at Kenilworth on Wednesday.

Shangri La in Race 5 over 2000m and Trip To India in Race 9 over 1400m are the two who stand out, but Kotzen and Fourie also have strong claims with the other three horses they team up with, Possibly Me in Race 4 over 1800m, South Side in Race 7 over 1000m and Elusive Singer in Race 8 over 1200m.

Fourie rides Shangri La for the first time. The four-year-old Ideal World filly has only run three times and got off the mark in her most recent start, when beating Rubyana (second again next time) over 1800m. Fourie will need all his skill to get her across from a wide draw, but Shangri La still has masses of scope for improvement and could follow up.

Dangers abound, headed by Konkola, Navasha and in-form Rock On Wood.

Trip To India is erratic but was having her second run after a layoff when fading to third, 5.50 lengths behind Our Destiny over 1200m at Kenilworth last month.

She, too, is not well drawn but will be 100 percent fit now, should enjoy this distance and will make a bold bid.

Primrose Lane has fluffed her lines only once in five career starts, when downfield and a long way behind Trip To India in an 1100m feature last month.

She ran a fair race over 1400m last time out and must rate the Kotzen runner’s main danger.
