SCOTIA ON THE WEEKEND was created by Dave Scott
Good morning to the CLAN and hope you have not missed me?

I have had heavy business commitments, but have been posting directly on the site, where we are still having many valued contributions, so thought it was time for my email circulation to kick back into gear.

We had a great thread running on the Dubai races last night and the fact I made a nice profit helps a bit for the big weekend ahead. I thought Curlin was very impressive and will be hard to beat on the big night, not sure of what MDK thinks about Asiatic Boy rising to the challenge?

I see we have another topic on race callers and have to say, I thought Shaheen did well for a novice and they say practice makes perfection, so hang in, plus I feel that Smiley could be back in the limelight soon [ look forward to his famous chirps ].

Sportingweb has injected focus on the rugby, soccer and other sports and I am reading the excellent previews and starting to take more sports bets, we have so many options with the handicaps etc, I will be having a punt on the Bulls, but would not go to Loftus if you gave me a free ticket and free drinks, tried it once and left at half time, strange breed of people at the rugby, no offence meant.

I see Molly is starting to discuss Cheltenham and he and Les Hobbs are ready for the annual pilgrimage, I have already written a book on the subject see "SCOTIA ON CHELTENHAM" but just as a refresher, will be shouting for Rippling Ring and Kauto Star is still my big bet, in fact looking for a couple of grand on the "NO" market on Interbet, to help balance my book.

On the subject of early betting, and we have plenty options, but all overseas, why cant the Joburg guys get the prices up early, we have all this hype in regards to the big race day on Sat, feature races etc, and not a word from the local bookies, considering I could have had a bet on the UK guineas for months, and we cant get betting 24hrs before the off on the SA equivalents?

We are all going to the big T on Sat. and look forward to a good day and hopefully a couple of winners? I am sure we will have a thread with all our experts giving us some hot info, must say I am very impressed with some of the FREE info that gets posted.

Rather concerned about cuckoo posting that we may go on to "strip shows" etc, to give our overseas visitors "the full Monty" and show them some proper South African hospitality. My concern is coming home with the baby oil and glitter on my baldy patch, will just explain its another RA initiative, after the trip to the starting stalls that the young RA ladies give you a head massage, I am sure Mrs. S. will understand.

Racing today is at Arlington day and Greyville tonight, as normal look forward to your input, plus not sure what meeting are on the very congested Tellytrack, but we have a night meeting from Kempton which I am sure will run together with Durbs, plus jumps from Doncaster, where Prime Contender and Sharp Reply look best. We also have Newbury, where Alaghiraar is the best on a difficult card and Wolves where we have a couple of good bets with Safari Sundowner and One night in Paris, with Jamie S on board.

Will probably have a low key day today and keep the kitty for a full go on Saturday, if we can get someone to price up?

Good punting and may your God be with you.

Frodo, it might be the second best bet? I still fancy my 7,000/750 Kauto Star!
