1,2,3 cape. If you didn't believe they were superior, time to throw in the towel.

Imo, it would not change much, as they both ran more or less to their ratings - and to MoMF, you were right - the Cape horses did prove superior in the DN; I would still argue that on a line through Shak Akbar, Second Base ran around 10 pounds below his rating - he has had a hard season (like Malmoos) and it would not surprise me if they pull him out of the July, unless today was meant to be a prep into the big one

For me on a line through Princess Calla's MET run, War of Athena would have run around 3.5 lengths behind Rainbow Bridge, receiving 8.5 kgs - in the July she will probably receive 8 kgs - but then WFA improvement could very well make up that 3.5 lengths; I would rate WoA's performance today slightly higher than Linebacker's - but what do I know - all in all one for me the July picture looks even more muddled after today

As Mr H says, one would have liked a bet on Rascallion at the odds available before today - doubt if one will even get 10s on Monday

Agree. Similar to Malmoos' run in the Champions Challenge I feel. Takes a truly exceptional colt/filly to win the 3 legs and come to KZN and win another Gr 1 I feel.

As of today, GTG (he's so well weighted if RB runs) and WOA for me in the July.

thanks guys just think rascallion was flattered a bit because if linebacker ran straight would of won easier for a grade 1 derby winner to run from 1 side of course to other was strange just shows me at least still plenty to come ! Just my thoughts but on weights agree rascallion will get closer and veale gets on well with him.He will more than likely retain ride on Rascallion.

Consideration

If you fancy WOA to win today and go for July, the multiple odds are around 22/1 .
However it's a same horse double and will be subject to a 33% deduction giving you in the region of 15/1.

I guess you have to consider what price WOA would be if it wins well today?

Maybe 8/1 or 10/1 ish.......

It's your call and good Punting

Guess Princess Calla and Netta you could do the same at a bigger price 😏

No complaints 👌

I heard that neither War Of Athena nor Linebacker will be penalised in the merit ratings, which should be fair, if GTGL was reduced in the ratings.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy

No. At least even if he stays, he's unlikely to improve the few lengths he needs to trouble those at the head of the market. Better from 1600 - 2000m I'd say looking at him.

Champion Challenge contender, at the end of July?

Yeah he could go there, he's lightly raced so might as well throw the dice after the July.
