Flunixin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, analgesic, and antipyretic used in horses, cattle and pigs. It is often formulated as the meglumine salt. In the United States, it is regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and may only be lawfully distributed by order of a licensed veterinarian.

I hear that he's killing it re-schooling troublesome horses at the pens. In respect to the drugs administered the question must be asked as to where these are sourced from. Perhaps the NHA should be inviting his vet in to give his version of events the next time they have a board meeting.

Flunuxin is a commonly used anti inflammatory. It should only show up in a test if administered less than a week prior to the test, so typically a trainer would not run a horse within a week of medication. However, there can be considerable variation in the detection time per horse, and the veterinary guidelines are based on trials involving quite small numbers of horses. It’s also possible that treated horses can re- ingest the medication from their urine or faeces by eating their straw bedding if kept in stables.
It is quite possible therefore that there was no deliberate foul play in this case, but a miscalculation of the necessary waiting period between medication and having a run.
