His speed will give them something to chase. The stablemate Converge is one of the fancies, the son of Frankel has won a Gr1 as a 2yo, but is probably aiming for the bigger races.
Will be a cracker with the odds of 12/1 In the Congo and about 5/1 Converge.
The Godolphin owned Anamoe is the 28/10 favourite and the Gr1 winner of over Aud 1,300,000 will be steaming home in the final stages.

Adrian Bott expects rivals will need to bring their A-game to get past bold front runner In The Congo in Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill.

Bott and co-trainer Gai Waterhouse have their three-year-old colt flying as he prepares for the first of his spring grand finals in the $1m feature.

In The Congo has been a model of consistency since making his debut in May this year, never finishing worse than second in five starts.

The highlight came in his gritty Group 3 San Domenico Stakes win two starts back but he lost no admirers last time when getting run down late by Golden Rose favourite Anamoe in the Group 2 Run To The Rose.

β€œHe has proven himself now and stepped up every time he runs,” Bott said.

β€œHe is going to have to do that again on Saturday but he has drawn well and pleased us since his last run.

β€œWe know he has got excellent tactical speed and should be able to use it from the draw.

β€œIt’s going to be hard to turn the tables (on Anamoe) but he is a horse that is hard to get past.”

In The Congo will jump from barrier six in a field of 13 three-year-olds and is a $10 chance with TAB fixed odds in a market stifled by hot pot Anamoe ($1.95).

Tim Clark will jump back aboard In The Congo for the Group 1 tilt after missing the ride in the Run To The Rose to pilot stablemate Converge, which has since been forced out for the spring with a virus.

It’s likely to be the last Sydney run of In The Congo for his spring campaign.

But Tulloch Lodge won’t follow many of his rivals on Saturday on a Caulfield Guineas path after Saturday with Bott pinpointing another Melbourne Group 1 as his next target.

β€œHis race would be the Coolmore,” Bott said.

β€œI reckon he would be really effective down the straight and he looks to be a sprinter to seven furlong type so we will look that way after Saturday.”

A win on Saturday would also likely put In The Congo in the frame for one of the remaining The Everest slots but Bott expects connections would be better placed chasing a berth in the $15m race in 2022.

β€œTrying to run in a race like The Everest would be 12 months too soon for a horse like him, he is still only a young horse,” he said.
