I have always had a special affinity with Zimbabwean racing. I have visited both Borrowdale and the old Ascot course in Bulawayo. My question to the locals is with the Terzi horses now off to the Vaal can the industry survive ? I saw today's fields were particularly small. How many juveniles do your have ?

Hoping things improve.

There is no doubt we are entering another difficult period and need more horses.

All the best to racing people against all odds
Sure it was young Gareth Pepper that used to post about sending horses there ?
I asked a few questions about going there winning USD and the legality of getting your winnings, not sure the questions were answered?

I have a story about my punt on his 1980 Tankard win. Have blogged before so will re-tell it in the box one day. :)

People are sending horses here but not nearly enough and the current economic situation is not helpful. We need to somehow regain the interest of the Zimbabwean population and give thought to spreading the word about syndication in various forms.

Does anyone know anything about the syndication Justin Vermaak and Bernard d"Faye...(too early in morning to check spelling) are involved in?

Quite a few members are part of some of their syndicates

The Zimjockeys may not see all the strategic endeavours the Chairman is doing to keep the business, employment and the recreation afloat.

As of this Monday I believe the cash flow has improved so it is my sincere hope most of these issues have been sorted. Local jockeys are an integral part of our racing but all over the world local jockeys complain, no doubt, when others are flown in.. it is a fact that has to be faced.
We need more horses, more racing and more owners - and only then will the situation improve. The Chairman and Board believe that improving the racecourse, even in these difficult times, is a step in the right direction. In Zim at present it is not only racing and those connected with it who are having a hard time. Business ad industry are also affected. We will not achieve anything if we are negative. We must hope for the best.
Some fields have 7, 9, 10 and 13 runners, and some local jockeys are riding.
