Mayhew won`t miss

Trainer Craig Mayhew does not travel often to Kimberley with his runners so if he does one must keep an eye on them and Miss Patriot in Race 2 must be considered.

She has been running down the field in maiden plates in Gauteng but takes on a very weak bunch of fillies at Flamingo Park and on her best form she could win.

This four-year-old filly has finished in the placings a couple of times in 2018 and in September last year was a decent third to Readysetglo.

The 1400m on the sand track should suit her and Marco van Rensburg could do the steering job.

Trainer Jarett Rugg had a very good year in 2019 and he can continue that form this year with Regent Seven who looks a likely winner in Race 4.

This five-year-old gelding was a wide margin winner over the course and distance (1600m) in his penultimate start and did seem to find the 1800m of his last start a bit far, so his third place does hold some merit.

Jockey Jared Penny did the job for Rugg many times last year and can get the job done with Regent Seven.

There was not much between Banjo On My Knee and Calls To Heaven when they met over 2200m a couple of months ago and as both runners are suited to the 1800m of Race 5, a Pinnacle Stakes, they can fight out the finish and the Swinger looks a safe proposition.

Trainer Coenie de Beer is another Gauteng trainer making a raid and his runner Starlight Dancer might run a decent race in Race 1 at decent Eachway odds and may also be worth a bet.
