From the moment Markram was dismissed SA looked a beaten team. They need to reshuffle the batting line up and make a couple of changes for the 2nd test. De Kock is not a number 5 in tests, he needs to bat at 7.

That’s 4 reviews wasted. How can you ask for a review when the ball is missing leg by a foot?

If you gave me 50 options as to whom should be captain,de Kock would be my 99th choice.

I think Bavuma was the plan when Faff decided he was done but Bavuma's test career to date is poor...save for the one hundred and a few other battling scores when required...he is one of those that plays with fear of his place and it shows in that he often looks like he doesn't want to be there...van der Dussen is another...

Elgar should be captaining the test team...either he doesn't want it or authorities don't see him being in the role for 3+ years so going for some-one younger hence de Kock...de Kock can play the game but cannot think ahead of the game as a captain should...

I read somewhere that de Kock himself said that he will only be captain for this year.

Two down now, can they pull off a miracle?

If that is so then a bit short-sighted by authorities...team is going through changes now as some of older players retire and newer players come in...would make sense to appoint a captain for next 2+ years so that squad (keep together core of 15 players) can grow together...through wins and losses...

Also a huge burden for a wicket-keeper...so de Kock wouldn't ever be a consideration for me, on top of not seeing ahead of the game...

This game is gone...as you rightly indicated at the time, lost in the 1st inning...

Let’s hope that de Kock has learnt two things since the first test.

1. It’s test cricket and not 20/20 he does not have to hit the leather off the ball

2. Go with his gut instinct when reviewing. Don’t let the bowlers force you into it.

India v England is going to be a great watch. If the pitches turn from day two then India will win the series as I doubt England will be able to keep the Indian spinners out. England have arguably the best batting line up in the world on good pitches, they still have to be really tested on turning wickets. With Kohli back in the Indian side will make it doubly hard. I expect a close series going down to the wire if the pitches stay good for 3 plus days

Got the two in batsmen out...Bavuma did great with the run-out...if Maharaj has already bowled 25+ overs and taken two wickets this early then trouble for SA batsmen when they face Pakistan spinners...
