I think this is a very weak renewal of the Emerald Cup. There are no real standouts for me. I know Mr. Tobin has won many on the Vaal sand but he just doesn't strike me as a top class horse IMO.

JAP, thanks for the info. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of Kimberley Windrush animals being real good on the sand. Still cannot hurt all THAT much in what I consider to being a rather ordinary field.

This is the greatest sand race regard less of what the view of any body is.

This is Hidalgo's thread,so I'm wishing him all the best.However,I have to agree with Flash in this instance.Horses running on the sand for first time in this race don't have a good record.They are taking on horses who are generally specialists on this course,so are massively disadvanged.I haven't checked,but Mike Miller's El Padrino is the only horse I can recollect finding a first 3 place in this race when having its first run on the sand in this race.

my name is Alan Bowman an ex bookmaker from the race course. it is about time i added some information but if the clan really study form there is a horse that should easiily beat mr tobin and probally the whole field This is Beacon flare study your computaform and looking at the weights you see why .
I very seldom tip horses but this time I feel obliged to try and help .This horse has proved itself on sand and only carrying 53 kg will be hard to beat

alanb the problem is the race is run on sand and not the paper. the winning margin mr tobin win by in the race with beacon flare is flatter your horse in the extreme. mr tobin will shit in tomorrow
