Rumour doing the rounds that Marcus Jooste is emigrating to Australia and Charles Laird to train his horses over there.

Can anyone confirm ?

On a more serious note would be a big loss to the SA market the buying power that has been thrown around. Sellers would miss it.

What about his stud farm investment?

Who cares about all his horses . This would give other trainers and owners more chances.

should this rumour be true, it would certainly leave a lot more of the cake for us small time / local yocals to enjoy.

Granted the quality of horses in future years that we race against would be somewhat diminished.

Don't know if the local breeders would be affected much - Jooste seems to buy most of his stock from overseas anyway.

Well if he does will save him a bomb in transport - can buy and race without having to fly them here - not too sure about this though why would he leave - surely the horses he has bought in aus would battle against their own breed or they would have already have raced abroad - can't recall if he has any aus horses that have been exported to race in Europe or Dubai - anyone have this info please post
