I was 14 yrs old, as I remember it, in the first test we had a team consisting of a majority of WP players, and we lost; everybody complained and for the 2nd test they picked a team consisting mostly of N Tvl players - we lost by a wider margin than the first test, then for the 3rd test, they picked a team that had quite a lot of Free State players (I think Gerrie Sonnekus moved from scrum-half to 8th man, or the other way around :S) and we got hammered; then in the 4t test they finally settle on a more 'balanced' (in term of provinces) team and we played to that 13-13 draw at Ellis Park
Stand to be corrected though, but yes that Lions team was very good - JPR Williams a brilliant full-back
