Karel,
Funny that you should mention her - I had a bedsit in Notting Hill Gate in the early '60's and Mandy Rice Davies was also in residence two floors above!!
Didn't know it at the time though - gleaned this info from the landlady later on.

Christine Keeler? what about Christine Trueman? They both used to play with balls, but in a different racket!

Sorry, once they were logged in my cheeks needed my sis to open my mouth wide enough to get 'em out. And they were called KAFFEBOLLE.

Kaffebolle was created by the star sweet factory in Salt River by an extreme rightwing afrikaner NAT to assist whites in maintaining a superiority complex in the face of the rise of black nationalism. We co;oureds embraced it with glee. It was lekker to boot...the kaffebolle that was.

Brian,
I missed that decade altogether.
I'm told I lived in Amsterdam then.
Moved to Notting Hill only in '72 - basement flat in Lansdowne Crescent.
Never checked to see who was two floors up.
I fondly remember Christine for her profound line about Profumo ("he would say that, wouldn't he?").

Karel,
Ah! those were the days - my pad was in No. 50 Clandicarde Gardens a dead end street off the Bayswater Road. My landlady was also "on the game" - used to give her a lift sometimes "up West" to Soho!
Christine will be 66 years old now and I believe she lives a quiet life in
Birkenhead. Yes, her quote about Profumo is quite famous!
