hibs i stand to be corrected , in the past two years the cup trial winners have all raced in the july off their rating prior to and not after winning the trial rating . so if futura runs off a 98 mr in the trial and wins it (say running to a rating of 110)he may run in the july off 98 not 110 . That would give him a huge advantage !

i am not sure though if it will be the same this year !

Anyone seen the 2 Crawford three year olds working together....

As I understand it, MR/weight can change up to 10 June - Cup Trial is on 7 June

ah ok Hibs , i've lost track of the years .

no longer applies . Its the jubilee that if you win you dont get penalized for the july and now the kzn derby .

it will be interesting to see which route they take !

Cup Trial do have weights increased. If the connections wanted to take a chance they could wait for the Betting World Derby on the 15th June as the weights are published on the 12th June. I suppose the trainer and connections have some big decisions about where to place him to get into the July and without incurring too big a penalty.

Nothing on the NHA site yet - I would guess in the region of 98-100 :S

I see in the BW1900 it stated a maximum 6 point penalty unless requested. I wonder if they will ask for the rating he ran to to ensure him getting into the bigger races? I would imagine the consolation race working the same way.

IMO futura doesn't even come close to qualifying for the july without just about winning the daily news, If all horses take their places there's only 4 or 5 places open outside the top 10 in the log with a lot of group one winners

Might be a similar story to yorker with the july coming too soon in his career, and he turned out ok
