Sadly, JP dumped his jockey at the start.
Understated was many kilos under sufferance on Tuesday and ran accordingly.

One runner at Kenilworth Wednesday. Sunlit from Heaven in race 6. She is a maiden taking on winners, but this is a moderate handicap and we think that she is better over 1800m than 1600m. Not the best of draws, but she tends to run on from off the pace, so that’s not a huge concern, and she gets a top jockey. She is not one that shows much in her sand work at home, but I’m expecting her to run a decent race and she could upset.
Stable companion Metar has solid form and could be the one to beat despite a wide draw, while Puet Etre Moi has dropped from 84 to 73 in the ratings and will go close if regaining her form. Quite a few others with chances.

Sunlit again did not put in an effort-need to try blinkers.

Two runners at Fairview Friday.
Race 2 *Elusive Mata first run. She has shown good work on the poly, and we are hoping for a good run. The favourite Vandalise has had two good local runs on poly, and will be hard to beat. Red Love, Jambo Sana and Fire Glow have all got fair runs under the belt, so I will be happy if we can place on debut. The dam Omaticaya was a useful Listed race winner, and was quite versatile.
race 7 Quasimodo runs in the Derby. The switch to poly may be in his favour, as he has run well on both surfaces, whereas the CT visitors are unproven on poly. Perfection is the one to beat, and also won't be troubled by the surface.

Promising debut Elusive Mara. Was green and outpaced early, but ran on well in the straight. Lost a bit of ground shifting to the outside, and only beaten 3L. Was ridden with the hands. With the experience and over a longer trip should win soon.
Cracking run by Quasimodo, came from last and made up 10 lengths in the short straight to go down a neck. Is maturing into a decent stayer, and a credit to young trainer Kelly Mitchley.
The half brother to Quasimodo by Elusive Fort, was bought for R150k , lot 61 Cape Yearling Sale 2023,, by Sharon Kotzen, and there are still some shares available in him.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Saturday.
*Lady Renee in race 4. She meets similar to last time when a close up 4th and despite being drawn on the less favourable side of the course again, is in good nick and should be in the shakeup. Mike Stewart sends out 4 runners and should dominate this race. He has the distinct possibility of saddling the quartet.
Beau Kala runs in race 6. Disappointing last two runs after an unlucky 2nd. Can win if she shows her best form in an open race.

Another very game run by Lady Renee- neck 2nd- always difficult to pass Fourie when he gets first run.
Better run by Beau Kala in 4th.

Two runners at Scottsville Monday.
Common Grounds in race 3. Promising debut run, but again has a very tough draw. The 1.5kg claim will help, and with the scratching of Main Defender the opposition are all maidens. Fibonacci looks the one to beat, although Winter Frolic which gets 3kg sex allowance has been priced up favourite despite her wide draw. Hopefully Common Grounds gets some luck in the running and can challenge. On breeding and what I have seen I think that the step up to 1400m should suit him.
Exceeder runs in race 7. This is an open race but he has previously underperformed on soft going so the conditions probably will not suit him.

Common Grounds pushed forward after being stuck out wide, and weakened the last 100m. Not a bad effort from the draw, and sticky going.
Exceeder ran a good race- handy, caught late and a neck between 2nd-4th so a good effort by him, despite the going.

One runner at Turffontein on Tuesday. Aussenkehr runs in race 6 and goes for his 4th win in a row. Is now rated 95 and taking on a strong field. Gets the plum draw and hopefully can rise to the occasion.

One runner at Greyville on Wednesday. *Pascali runs in race 5. Tough draw and this is his first race on poly, but the program sucks and no mile races for his class on turf for months. If he takes to the poly he should be competitive. He has worked ok on the surface but only the race will tell.

Another gutsy run by Aussenkehr, but it looks like the handicapper has caught up with him.
Pascali ran on nicely after being dropped out from his wide draw, so at least we know that he can run on both surfaces. Need to crack a draw next time.

One runner at Greyville on Saturday. Hokaai My Meisie ( no, I didn’t pick the name😀)
makes her debut in race 2. She is a lovely filly, but a tough ask first time from a wide draw. The BSA juvenile bonuses are finished for the season. I’ll be watching her with interest, as the mare has 100% winners to runners. Kingdom of Gold and Knockout look the two to beat.

Hokaai My Meisie fought her rider early as he tried to settle her in from her wide draw. I think this will prove to be a fairly strong baby race, and she should come on a ton from this.

One runner at Fairview on Monday. Quasimodo runs in race 4. He is still in here under his old rating of 80, whereas he has now earned a rating of 94, so he should be a penalty kick today. I got 28/10 yesterday and 5/2 still available this morning. He should be odds on, so have a punt.

As expected easy win by Quasimodo at the weights. Amazed at the generous price.

One runner at Vaal Tuesday. JP Twothousand in race 8. Competitive race but seemed to be regaining form before last debacle so must have a chance.

Two runners at Scottsville on Saturday.
Exceeder in race 3. Ran well last time and should have no problem with the distance. EW chance in an open race.
Golden Tatjana in race 5. Has been very consistent and ran well first time this course last time. Tough task with Winter Cloud the one to beat and a strong Jhb contingent headed by Mrs Geriatrix and Red Hot Rose. Stable companion Roscova comes off a break but is capable. She will do well to place in this Gr1, but hoping that she can step up.

Exceeder handy, but tired late, unplaced.
Another good honest run from Golden Tatjana with front running tactics in 4th. Was bumped quite severely when she drifted out in the latter stages which cost her 3rd place. The winner very impressive.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Sunday, but we have had quite a bit of rain and more forecast so not sure if we will race.
Beau Kala and *Sunlit from Heaven both run in the Open maiden race 4. Both ew chances in a very open race. Sunlit has come down to a competitive rating, and looks quite well in on her best form. She gets blinkers and hopefully that will help.
