Another gutsy win by Dawn Surprise.

3 runners at Vaal on Saturday
Kaalvoet race 2. Race has cut up to just 5 runners. He is out at the weights with Zalatoris and Chapbook, but on his best form he could surprise. This is his 3rd run back in Gauteng and he should be super fit. He won his maiden this track, and on their Scottsville run can give Zalatoris a fright getting 4 kg.
Step in to It race 3. Has cut up to only 4 runners. Needed his last run badly and hopefully will have improved from that. Badly out at the weights with T Champ and Hotarubi, but both of those have been inconsistent. Could be an upset race if something is allowed to get away.
Captain Selvie in race 9. very competitive race with quite a few improving youngsters and the solid Maverick Queen. Stable companions Play with the Wind and Dezire have claims, as do the 2 Houdalakis runners. C  Selvie also won her maiden this track, and I’m hoping that she can get back to winning ways here.

Kaalvoet decent effort not far off the winner.
Step Into It never dangerous
Captain Selvie very good run- had she been drawn the other side would possibly have won.

One runner at Durbanville on Wednesday. Double Distilled in race 5. Has been brought along steadily since his return from retirement, and now runs over the trip that he is bred for. Gets a nice draw and a strong jockey. If he can show a bit more improvement this trip then he will be in with a shout in a moderate field. Tothemoonandback and Beer with the boys are consistent hard knockers, while American beauty has most scope for improvement.

Very good run by Double Distilled close second. Kudos to Mike Stewart who brought this gelding out of retirement after 2 years and has got him to this point where his first win is just around the corner.

One runner at Fairview on Friday. Disruptive in race 8. We have relocated him to PE as we believe that’s the right place for him. He is bred to stay and has taken time to come to hand. The race has now been moved to poly, and we obviously have no idea how he will take to the surface. He travelled to PE on Thursday and has arrived safely. He is a few kilos out at the weights and will need to improve a few lengths on his past efforts to feature. He has been doing well at home and we are hoping that he will show some improvement.

One runner at Kenilworth on Saturday
Warrior of Destiny in race 1. He is a nice colt but needs further. Running because his owner is in town. The speedy fillies will be hard to beat.

Fair run by Warrior of Destiny beaten under 5L. Watch over further

Two runners at Turffontein on Sunday
Kaalvoet in race 3. Again out at the weights, and outside place chance at best.
Warning Sound race 6. Better run last time and should fight it out with Accept Cookies.

Nice win by Warning Sound. Hopefully more improvement to come.
Kaalvoet unplaced- needs to go back into handicaps and not keep running under sufferance.

One runner at Fairview on Tuesday.
On an Impulse in race 6. Too short a trip last time and reported not striding out. Will prefer this trip, and ultimately bred to  go 2000m and further.
The handicapper got it wrong when putting him up from MR70 to 82 for beating a moderate field (The runner up that day is just a 66.) The 4kg claimer should thus bring him right into the race.
Fair draw of 7 and must have an ew chance in this field.
The top two in the betting are no value at all- this is a very open race, and the favourite is a moderate 7 yo and the second favourite no show first time this track, although that was a sprint and this is his proper trip.
Arlu is another that the handicapper punished (17 points raise to 97 for running 3rd to King Prawn). He is now down to a very competitive MR 76 which is less than he got for winning his maiden last year.
Big ew runner at a generous price.

Moderate effort by On An Impulse.

One runner at Fairview on Friday
Lyricas and Songs in race 4. Has been disappointing so far, and her MR looks high for what she's done. However, returning to turf and just about anything can happen in these open maiden handicaps.
Lebombo Gold makes the trip from CT and won't find an easier opportunity to shed her maiden. Lana View the best of the locals.

Two runners at Greyville on Friday evening.
De Vlugge in race 4. First time poly, but is in good form and gets a strong jockey. If she takes to the surface must have a good ew chance. Open and competitive race.
Golden Angel in race 5. She disappointed last time but was found to be carrying a virus. Also trying the poly to see how she goes on it. Decent draw and good local jockey. She may be in slight need of the race although had a nice gallop a few days ago. Open race and quite a few with chances. I don't think that she should be favourite, but if not needing it too much and if she enjoys the surface, must be included.

Lyrics and Songs showed good pace and then faded last bit.
De Vlugge good win first run poly so that opens up options. Gary Rich has done very well since acquiring this filly.
Golden Angel found one too good on the day, but showed that she can run on poly. This was perhaps a bit on the sharp side for her.

Very impressive juvenile debut winner World Attraction in Jhb. I bred the dam, Major Attraction, from Vercingetorix's second crop, before he became a legend. She won the gr3 Champagne Stakes 1200m and was Gr2 placed in the Sceptre Stakes. Smart choice of stallion One World by her owners as the Captain Al  x Fort Wood cross and the Capt Al x Vercingetorix cross are both very successful, and she brings both, being by Vercingetorix out of a Fort Wood mare.
One runner at Scottsville on Sunday, weather permitting. Dawn Surprise in race 9. Has solid form and wiith the 4kg claim must again have a good winning chance. Dangers are Jazz Diva and Daisy Rocker

A very impressive win by Dawn Surprise.
A good weekend for us and particularly for Elusive Fort. Apart from the 2 winners in KZN, Littlemissmillions ran a cracker in the Fillies Guineas in a strong field, after being dropped out to last from her wide draw. Finishing best of all made up some 10L in the last 400m to finish 5th. I can’t wait to see her in the Classic.

One runner at Vaal on Tuesday. Step Into It in race 9. his MR has now come down to a sensible figure, and the 2 runs since his  break should have brought him on. At long odds, he could spring a surprise.
Open contest where Jaffa is probably the one to beat.

Fair run by Step into It not beaten too far.

One runner at Durbanville on Wednesday. Double Dash in race 6. A bit unreliable, but on best form can win this type of contest. Open race.

Good win by Double Dash. Stud is in hot form- 3 winners and a second our last 5 runners.

Two runners at Durbanville on Saturday.
Double Distilled race 3. Is a couple of kg under sufferance and drops back to 1600m. Is probably better further, but was a bit unlucky last time and if he continues to improve can run into the money. Open race, my shortlist is Oh So Onderful, Protector of Peace, Bonelli and DD. These open maiden handicaps are notoriously tricky.
Caribbean Gold in race 6. Bad draw, but gets Fourie up, and has enough gate speed to overcome the draw. Winning chance in an open race.

Two runners at Turffontein on Saturday.
Warning Light in race 4. Debut run, should need further, but could be anything. Out of a top racemare by a decent stallion.
Captain Selvie in race 9. Good last run, is the one to beat this race.
