We are very open to any feedback that will allow a greater audience to participate in & lift South African horseracing to the heights it deserves to be. I think we can all work together and steadily improve every aspect of this wonderful sport. Any opinion, feedback, suggestion & criticism is always welcome. We hope you continue to watch "Racing Today" as we continue to promote this sport of Kings to many more South Africans and grow it into the world power it should be. ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐ŸŒŽ - Benni Langa

Really appreciate the support Bob. Ryno is a true gem & he is doing fantastic work with our grooms and studio 88. The sport owes a great debt to him and Mr Werners. He is also just a truly great guy so I was personally honoured to have him on the show. My best to the entire African Betting Clan, your team and contributors. We appreciate your support of Racing Today very much. May this platform continue to allow more passionate supporters of our sport to contribute & comment on how we can make every aspect of South African Thoroughbred Horseracing better. - Benni Langa

Good morning Benni and welcome to the ABC forum.

Agree that Sudio 88 make a tremendous contribution to racing.

We have a vast knowledge of contributions and views on the site via our "search" facility.
Just add key words and use any dates to open a subject.

I share my views as follows on the best way to take racing forward.

Getting people involved in having a share in a horse is the first step to generate interest.
However it must be emphasized that this is a gamble and not an investment.
Treat it like a hobby eg Golf.

The funds that should feed racing is generated via the Tote and that is a concern as tote pools drop.
The reason tote pools are unhealthy is due to the bookmakers prices being more competitive on wins and places and the open bet being taken via bookmakers rather than directly into the tote.

My suggestion has always been try and make an arrangement where bookmakers take the win pool bets and all exotics via tote .
Easier said than done.

We must slso remember that we have never been able to reverse the unfair position between racing and sports bets where only racing is subject to the 6% tax.
Also having a return on the tote of R1.00 is unacceptable to only getting your money back on ANY risk.
Tote discrepancies that appears unreasonable have to be explained and carry overs must be transparent.

Hope this helps and all the best

It's me again

We must also consider that the Tote actually want punters to win and recycle the money as much as possible vs a bookie who will have a bad day when the favs arrive.

Considering above maybe we should make the pick 6 easier by bringing back the coupling with same trainer?

In the days of yore when there were many trainers and horses tote couplings seemed effective. With todayโ€™s much smaller fields and fewer trainers dividends will be diluted to water.

In those days of yore there even used to be trainer couplings on the tote for a WIN bet too. I remember backing the wrong โ€œwinnerโ€ when I was paid out on Spanish Galliard in the July. Do we also bring back those couplings?

There even used to be two consolation dividends for the daily double.

Today, coupled on the tote facetiously suggests gone to the west.

I note what you say Mac but trust me the pick 6 combination on Saturdays carry over would be a lot less complicated if I could take the TARRY and ZACKEY couplings in race 8.

POURSOMESUGARONME to make it sweeter.

Thank you Dave. Your response is very useful & appreciated. I'm certainly going to share it with my team as part of the meaningful contributions we receive from stakeholders & interested parties in the racing world.

We have introduced the betting conversation with TAB onboard as part of our efforts to educate our viewers about the importance of the Tote & betting responsibly etc. We are doing the same via soccer betting pools on the platform with Jerry Warie (soccer betting pools compiler - also weekly) and the response regarding these has been very positive.

As we continue to engage this new audience that perhaps may even participate in online racing communities like ABC someday, we are seeing some maturity in the questions & content suggestions from the viewers themselves. I'm very glad that you've decided to have such a positive & constructive attitude towards the show because it can only improve (And is doing so very rapidly). RACING TODAY is making history in the name of uplifting the entire sport, we very proud of that & are eternally grateful for your input Dave. Long may ABC prosper.

Benni Langa. You knew nothing about racing a year ago, but your attitude and mindset has resulted in you making steps in starting discussions where so many before have failed. Well done.
