Every Jockey has the right to appeal - if they do that they can ride until the appeal is heard... most jocks don't appeal for small suspensions or fines ....as far as i know if a Jock is carded to ride he can ride those mounts and then start his time... he may not take rides during the period of his suspenion and only can ride those he agreed to before the suspension date... I personally believe most suspensions should start within 3 weeks of the event... If a guy has ridden recklessly force him to attend a hearing within a week (most offences are already dealt with on the day of the race - see Stipes reports - only serious ones are decided later)
