the only positive is that its just a two match series so they cant lose more that 2-0 and another positive is that if there were a 3rd test the Proteas would select 4 seamers. Still cannot believe how naive they, the coach and the captain, are.

Maybe it's worth more to lose than to win?

Sri Lanka almost 500 ahead. The only reason why they are still batting is to give the spectators and TV broadcasters their money’s worth as they will bowl the Proteas out for less than 100 in the 2nd innings.

His track record is not questionable.... But when does the axe start dropping on Amla? Feel he has been battling for well over a year now.....

Genuine question as I don't know ..... has SA been 'forced' to go and play in SL ? What is this doing for the side - except to re-confirm that the SA batsmen are pretty useless against spin (something the captain is still to realize -'I don't think we play spin badly' :silly: Would it not have been better to stay at home to prepare for the upcoming season?
And of course the selection policy baffles the mind - even in the ODI on Sunday they go in with one specialist spinner - and then give Mulder and Phek 6 overs between them - going for a LOT of runs, before giving Shamzi the ball - who strikes in his 1st over  Is this at the directive of the coach - as surely Faf has more sense
On the batting side, needless to say - the departure of AB has left a big hole - with no heir-apparent on the horizon - at least the bowling has some potential, with Rabada the stand-out and Maharaj continually improving; sadly overall imo the side looks moderate (especially on turning pitches)

I would never try to put someone at his age into the Category of King Kallis, but could Mulder become the next best all rounder in cricket in a couple of years? I certainly think so....

No his a kak fielder (let through 16 runs ) in the last two games ,can bat a bit but a very mediocre medium pacer. We ,in world cricket wont see the likes of a Kallis in a long time.

More atmosphere at Edgebaston than most Premier league grounds. Test cricket at its best
