Looking at the sizes of Will Smith and Chris Rock, I can only guess that Will Smith acted tough because he had that size advantage...a bully...as if he has never said a joke (scripted or otherwise) that insulted some-one's wife...

Guess he and Alec Baldwin will get into business running anger management classes in Hollywood for those who do not display enough tough guy aggression...
