Afcon 2024 Anyone?

In the Africa Cup of Nations 2024 match, Mali secured a 2-0 victory over South Africa. Mali's triumph was marked by two rapid goals in the second half, scored by Hamari Traore and Lassine Sinayoko. Despite South Africa's strong showing for most of the game, they failed to capitalize on their chances, notably missing a penalty by Percy Tau in the first half. Tau's missed opportunity was a significant turning point, as Mali later maximized their scoring chances, resulting in their victory.

South Africa's performance was commendable, as they maintained good play for the majority of the match. However, the missed penalty and inability to score left them vulnerable in the second half, during which Mali displayed their dominance.

Mali's success in this match further solidifies their record of never losing an opening game in the competition. They now look forward to their next match against Tunisia, while South Africa faces a critical game against Namibia, needing a positive result to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.

From a betting perspective, this match highlighted the importance of capitalizing on scoring opportunities and the potential impact of key moments like penalty misses on the outcome of a game. Mali's ability to convert their chances in the second half was crucial for their win, whereas South Africa's missed opportunities, especially the penalty, were detrimental to their chances of securing a positive result

I must say I did notice this game was being played last night and Mali was money on and SA were around 4/1 which I thought was worth a punt but game was 10.00 I decided not to punt.

On all accounts I would have been very frustrated watching the game

In today's AFCON 2024 match between Morocco and Tanzania, the betting odds heavily favor Morocco. They are considered the clear favorites to win, with Betfred offering odds of 1/4 for a Moroccan victory. Tanzania, on the other hand, is seen as a long shot with odds of 10/1, and the odds for a draw stand at 7/2. The game is expected to be low scoring, with under 2.5 goals being the favorite outcome at odds of 8/11.

Morocco comes into this match with a strong team and a high FIFA ranking of 13th. They have been performing consistently well in recent games, including a 3-1 victory over Sierra Leone in their last friendly and a 2-0 win over Tanzania in their World Cup qualification match. Key players for Morocco include Youssef En-Nesyri and Hakim Ziyech, who is expected to play a crucial role and has odds of 15/8 to score during the match.

Tanzania, ranked 121st by FIFA, has a more challenging task ahead. They have been less consistent in their recent performances, including a 2-0 loss against Egypt in a friendly. Their squad mainly comprises players from the Tanzanian league, which may affect their performance against a strong Moroccan side.

For betting tips, experts suggest considering Morocco to win to Nil at odds of 8/11, given their strong defensive lineup and recent performance. Another tip is betting on Morocco to win and score more than one goal, with odds of 1.86, and the game producing more than two goals, given the history of their encounters

African football is a hard watch sometimes... no patience from the players, always in a rush and rattled. Very little control. Thats what I saw from last nights match. I will keep an eye on the tournament, but nothing to write home about yet so far. Besides former Manchester United superstar and gem of a signing by Ferguson Bebe helping Cape Verde beating Ghana the other day

Sorry but the SA football team are woeful. The penalty kick that ended up in the Atlantic says it all. No vision, no ideas just poor. Surely there are players far better than this lot that are sitting on the beach somewhere in SA.

You think its the players CnC?
to me it seems there is a serious lack of coaching from a very very young age. All skill no clue.

100%  the more flicks and tricks the louder the cheers. They need a coach that changes the entire set up

Yesterday's African Cup of Nations matches featured two games. Morocco secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Tanzania, showcasing their strong form. This result extended Tanzania's streak of not keeping a clean sheet in their last seven matches in the competition. In the other game, DR Congo and Zambia played to a 1-1 draw. Zambia continued their winless run in the last eight matches at the Africa Cup of Nations. From a betting perspective, Morocco's win was expected, while the draw between DR Congo and Zambia might have been less predictable

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2024 has reached an exciting stage with the last 16 round, showcasing a mix of expected heavyweights and surprising underdogs. The fixtures present some thrilling matchups that are sure to attract the attention of sports betting enthusiasts in South Africa and beyond.

The last 16 round kicks off on Saturday, January 27, with Angola facing Namibia in Bouake, and Nigeria taking on Cameroon in Abidjan. Sunday's games include Equatorial Guinea versus Guinea in Abidjan, and Egypt against Democratic Republic of Congo in San Pedro.

The action continues into Monday, where Cape Verde clashes with Mauritania in Abidjan, followed by a heavyweight matchup between Senegal and Ivory Coast in Yamoussoukro. The round concludes on Tuesday with Mali battling Burkina Faso in Korhogo, and a much-anticipated game between Morocco and South Africa in San Pedro.

From a betting perspective, the Morocco vs South Africa game stands out as a key fixture, given South Africa's participation. This match represents not just a sporting contest, but a chance for South African fans and bettors to rally behind their team. The mixture of established teams and unexpected qualifiers like Namibia and Mauritania adds an element of unpredictability to the betting landscape, potentially offering higher rewards for risk-takers.

The performance of the underdogs, namely Namibia and Mauritania, has been a surprising element of the tournament, potentially offering lucrative opportunities for bettors seeking to capitalize on unexpected outcomes. On the other hand, the clash of titans like Senegal and Ivory Coast presents a more challenging scenario for predictions, with both teams having strong credentials and a history of success in the tournament.

For South African bettors, the AFCON 2024 last 16 offers a combination of patriotic support for Bafana Bafana and the chance to engage in strategic betting, considering factors like team form, historical performances, and player fitness. It's a time where football passion and betting acumen come together, creating a vibrant atmosphere around one of Africa's most prestigious football tournaments.

Best game I've watched so far was Cape Verde v Mauritania last night, real magic.
