Microsoft Scam Beware!!
9 years 8 months ago
Just got a CALL from some guy with an Indian Accent number 0091916335648. The donkey tells me he's from Microsoft and they have picked up that i'm having a security issue and he wants to help me by installing software to fix this. I told him that I had antivirus and did regular updates and that I thought he was lying ... He dropped the call!!! I've had email scams for years but first time I've received a call

this has been occurring for a few years now. The caller will eventually ask you for around £150 up to "fix" your machine. They want your permission to get into your machine by telling you what to do on your computer. The clue to not listening to them is when they tell you that they are from Microsoft. Microsoft never contacts anybody by phone. All they are interested in is if the software on your machine is legal otherwise they don't give a toss so don't be fooled by these conmen who pose as reps of Microsoft.

They've called my landline at least once a month, Male or female in Thick Indian Accent.
Me and My Housemate have had some fun conversation with them, been going on now for a while. We pretended my Housemate was being held hostage by an Irritated Apple User.. and he didn't want her to use the PC.

But on a serious note. This type of Scan needs to be put on TV and make people more aware. How many user you think they've gotten that are of the elderly folks that don't know any better because their children got them a Cheapo Lappy or something to just to keep in contact with the gran kids. The software that these okes are using will most likely be keylogging software to see ur online banking accounts, sure the elder or non PC literate person wont bank online but they might have a bill or something come to the email account which these people can sue for Identity Theft Purposes.

they have conned plenty of people and will do so everyday cause as you say old people, are slow on the uptake and will just hand over their details because these callers sound convincing and I believe threatening as well.
