Flamingo Park - visiting trainers

12 trainers(13 if you count fritz roux) raiding today - dominance is over and good news for owners that have BAD horses in training in Gauteng - I know that people will say your merit rating is ruined to race there but frankly most of the horses going down need help and before people say the stakes are too low to bother if the stakes are raised too much top yards will raid and the smaller owner/trainers will be in the same boat as before

decided after the last two meetings at miller park that after pe racing this is the worst place to actually bet on...the track surface is inconsistent and the majority of horses have never raced on this cuck surface....when horses went to bloem they raced on grass which was the surface they were used to and they would generally run to form...the great peter miller said that it can take a horse up to 3 or 4 runs to get used to this surface...it all leads to form reversals and lotto like punting....good luck to the boys punting at this centre

agreed pirates Bloem different class - Flamingo not a punting centre - but as an owner what do you do if you have a bad horse- if you can't place at the vaal sand then maybe you'll earn at Flamingo -I don't believe that a horse need runs to win in that centre - Spies, Matchett, de Kock et al have proved that - perhaps Mr Miller was just trying to scare off the opposition!!!!

if you got a bad horse then retire it ,they cant all be champions..rather buy or lease something else than throw good money after bad...the quality of kimberly racing is pathetic and a bad advert for sa racing..just look at the asthetics of the course itself what a fucking joke...

This just highlights the warped workings of Phumelela, selling Bloemfontein and punting Kimberley.
For the greed merchants its not what's best for racing but what's cheaper for Phumelela.
Now we stuck with this inferior racing centre which down-grades our racing.
As an owner/trainer you have the option, race there and appease/justify Phumelela's f#@k up or boycott Kimberley racing totally and force their hand.

one thing i can say about Kimberley horses is that there are more horses there that win in excess of three in a row then any other centre - but then they run completely off form - suppose because they are mediocre too start off with - also i'm not sure how much it costs to train there but lots of guys have done well buying cheap horses and racing them there - still point taken about the asthetics and quality of horse but i'd rather have that course than none - we CANNOT afford to loose another venue

Mr h, its not about losing another venue, its about Phumelela re-instating one of our decent assets they plundered, albeit another Bloemfontein location.
Remember Phumelela is obligated to host at least one SA race meet a day ito their international screening agreement.
