"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Tuesday 19th February Workings...

Afternoon.

This afternoon completed and went as follows........

The 1st runner we wanted 2.4, and with getting around 2.34/36 on arrival, we had a lay at 2.36 max. The lay didn't really settle early, bet swept into the lead off the home bend, and although the eventual second looked the winner, he refused to go on and win, so the lay won it! and the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it......

The 2nd runner we wanted 1.3, and with a non runner and 4.2% reduction, we now wanted a lay price of 1.29. The price was around 1.43 on arrival and never came down to us at any stage at all, so a race to avoid for all. The runner had to work very hard, but I feel was being a bit lazy on the front, but got the win and so a good leave........

The 3rd runner we wanted 1.7, and with being around 1.82 on arrival and not coming down to our lay price at any stage at all, it was a race to avoid for all. The runner had to work very hard, but got the win and so another good leave.........

The 4th runner we wanted 2.4, but a non runner and 3.1% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.36. The price was a well supported 2.1 on arrival and so we had a lay at 2.1. The price then went for a walk the other way, and out to our own price of 2.66 (was 2.7 before reductions) and beyond, so a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade went and won a photo finish by a gnats genitalia, so very frustrating, but the way it goes and glad of the 'free' lay now........

The 5th runner was a non runner due to the late abandonment of Sedgefield, so on to the next....

The 6th runner we wanted 2.8, but a non runner and 4.2% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.72. The price had drifted to around 2.76 on arrival and then dropped back down to us and beyond, so we had a lay at 2.72 max. The price then went for a walk out to our own price of 3.02 (3.0 nearest exchange price - was 3.1 before reductions) and beyond, so another chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade ran a poor race and was subsequently well beaten, so a good result.........

The 7th runner we wanted 2.2, and with drifting to around 2.3 on arrival and then dropping down to us and beyond, we had a lay at 2.2 max. The lay went storming off into a big lead, and that was that! none could get into it, so again frustrating, but the way it goes as yet another favourite goes and wins..........

The 8th runner we wanted 1.7, and with being around 1.81 on arrival and then dropping down to us, we had a lay at 1.7. The lay went and won without too much fuss, so the way it goes..............

The 9th runner was a non runner due to the abandonment of Sedgefield, so on to the next...

The 10th runner we wanted 2.32, and with being around 2.5 on arrival and just getting bigger, we never see our lay price at any stage, so all had to avoid the race. The runner went and won, so a nice priced winner, but more importantly a good leave............

The 11th runner we wanted 2.7, and with being around 3.05 on arrival and not coming down to our lay price at any stage at all, we all had to avoid another race. The runner lost out by a gnats genitalia after a very close photo finish, so heart attack saved, but one that got away in hindsight..........

The 12th runner was a non runner due to the abandonment of Sedgefield, so on to the next......

The 13th runner we wanted 2.7, and with being around 2.46 on arrival, we had a lay at around 2.46. The lay won as if 20lb well in, so very annoying as yet another favourite goes and wins.! Traders did get their trade back prices and so they got away with it..........

The 14th and final runner we wanted 2.32, and with being a well supported 2.1 on arrival, we had a lay at 2.1. The lay went and won by half the track, so the way it goes yet again today!!!

WELL BATTLED.. but it was nigh on impossible today, and we just have to accept it as 'one of those days'...............(4 from the first 4 (100%) went and won - 7 from the first 8 (87.5%) went and won - and 9 from the 11 (3 nr's) in total (82%), and so nigh on impossible to make any money!)

'Rolling' strategists (no 'free' lays for them) had to concede 4 targets..................They started on the 1st runner and then with winner after winner, and not being able to avoid them all, they ended conceding 4 targets on their 5th lay (the 8th runner), so no chance at all today to be honest........

Strategy/target players (bank builders) had their 1st lay (the 1st runner) at 2.36 max, and a poor result see them go behind early.........They then had a 'free' lay (the 4th runner) that only bought relief..............Then came another 'free' lay (the 6th runner) that bought a tiny profit............Then came their 2nd lay (the 7th runner) at 2.2, but a poor result see them go further behind...........They then had their 3rd lay (the 8th runner) at 1.7, but another poor result see them go further behind........and 4 runner builders had to concede 4 targets..

5 runner builders went to their last lay (the 14th runner) at 2.1, and yet another winner see them concede 4 targets too...

Traders had to concede a little on the 7th runner at 2.2 max, the the 8th runner at 1.7 max, and the 14th runner at 2.1 max, and all others see them win a bit or break level, so all in all they lose a bit and not surprised with all those winners...

So one the, if not 'the' toughest day of the year (last few years) thus far, and nothing we could do about it. One of those things and best just take it on the chin and look ahead to tomorrow.
