Charles Laird being interviewed by David Mollett after Officer Wales shed his maiden in open company, snapped at the affible Molly, who had made the 'cardinal error' of mentioning that the horse had cost R2.4 million.
As the "At a glance", writer(s) says, it appears that certain trainers and jockeys are irritated at post-race questions but they should really be seeing it as an obligation and duty to the punter who keeps the game ticking over. "One would have thought that Laird would have been over the moon at the win".
Maybe the pressure of training all those expensive horses and the prospect of clutching Marcus' hand in sheep-shagging country is getting to him ?
Molly handled the uncalled for remark(s) from this Charlie with aplomb and dignity.
Chris, time to re-instate those Ngong awards !

Seem to remember Charles was a Ngong recipient after snapping at Deez at Scottsville last season when 7th Rock won. Well done to Lance Benson for utilising his column in the excellent Sporting Post to highlight this episode.
We will therefore honour Charles in our new feature which replaces the Ngong's it will be known as "Marcus's Big Pocket" and will provide a logical haven for many of the racing inner circle.

Dean Kannemeyer is another who doesn't handle the 'price-tag' issue too well.
