"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Wednesday 5th March Workings...
17 years 3 months ago
Afternoon.
This afternoon completed and went as follows........
The 1st runner we wanted 3.1, and with being around 3.3 on arrival and then dropping down to our lay price and beyond under good support, we had a lay at 3.1 max. The lay was nicely beaten, so gamble foiled and a good result.....
The 2nd runner we wanted 2.44, and with being a well supported 2.32 on arrival and getting shorter and shorter (went odds on), we had a lay at 2.32 max. The lay looked beat, but dug deep to come back and win a battle, which to be honest wasn't like him at all! However, did well and the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it.........
The 3rd runner we wanted 3.0, and with being around 2.9 on arrival, we had a lay at around 2.9. The price then drifted out to our own price of 3.3 and slightly beyond, so a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade was nicely beaten, so a good result......
The 4th runner we wanted 2.44, and with being around 2.7 on arrival and just getting bigger, we never see our lay price at any stage, so all had to avoid the race. The runner ran a poor sort of race to be fair, so the drift justified and 'one that got away in hindsight'.......
The 5th runner we wanted 2.5, and with drifting to around 2.56 on arrival and then dropping down to us and slightly beyond, we had a lay at 2.5 max. The price then drifted out to our own price of 2.8 and slightly beyond, before coming back down again, so a fluctuating market and a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade ran a poor race and was easily beaten, so a good result.........
The 6th runner we wanted 2.5, and with being a well supported 2.16 on arrival and getting shorter, we had a lay at around 2.16 max. The lay came in 2nd after a battling finish, so a good result.........
The 7th runner we wanted 2.7, and with drifting alarmingly to around 6.2 on arrival, and not coming back down anywhere near our lay price again, race to racers had to avoid the race. The runner traded as low as 1.01 and looked the sure winner, but was picked off very very late, so in the end the drift justified! some lucky layers there I can tell you, but in the end for us it was a drift that beat us to the punch. Grr! Early traders happy though.......
The 8th runner we wanted 2.5, and with being around 3.35 on arrival and although coming down a bit, it never came anywhere near our lay price at any stage at all, so a race to avoid for all. The runner came in 2nd after a battle and looking the winner for most of the way, so another 2nd, but one that got away in hindsight.....
The 9th runner we wanted 2.1, and with drifting to around 2.94 on arrival and just getting bigger, we never see our lay price at any stage, so all had to avoid the race. The runner came in a well beaten 3rd, so another drift justified, and 'one that got away in hindsight'......
The 10th runner we wanted 3.2, and with getting around 2.94 on arrival and getting shorter, we had a lay at around 2.94 max. The lay went and won, so fair play and the way it goes......
The 11th runner we wanted 3.3, and with being around 2.82 on arrival, we had a lay at around 2.82. The lay was beaten and so a good result.......
The 12th runner we wanted 2.5, and with being around 2.84 on arrival and just getting bigger, we never see our lay price at any stage, so all had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten after a battling finish, so ran well, but it was 'one that got away in hindsight'.......
The 13th runner we wanted 1.7, and this race was off when we arrived, so we had to avoid it and move on to the next........Incidentally the runner was beaten, so hope early traders got on!....
The 14th runner we wanted 2.6, and with drifting to around 3.05 on arrival and then dropping back down to us and slightly beyond under good late support, we had a lay at 2.6 max. The lay went and won a very tight finish, so the way it goes, but only traders playing now and they very easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it......
The 15th and final runner we wanted 1.7, and with being around 2.6 on arrival and only trading on offer, I'll leave it there, so good luck if you hang about......
WELL PLAYED.........
'Rolling' strategists (no 'free' lays for them) won 2 targets................They started their 1st strategy/target on the 1st runner, and then hit their targets on their 4th lay (the 5th runner)...............They then started their 2nd strategy/target on the 6th runner, and hit their targets on their 3rd lay (the 11th runner).............so with running out of enough potential lays left to start another, they end their winning 2 targets...
Strategy/target players (bank builders) had their 1st lay (the 1st runner) at 3.1 max, and a good result see them win a chunk of their targets.........They then had their 2nd lay (the 2nd runner) at 2.32 max, but a poor result see them go a little behind.........Then came a 'free' lay (the 3rd runner) that bought a tiny profit............Then another 'free' lay that bought a tiny profit...........They then had their 3rd lay (the 6th runner) at 2.16, and a good result see them break level, and so with 4 runner strategists being level with just one potential lay left, it's always advised to take the levels with now no room for error, so they end levels.......(I'm aware that a target was achievable with slightly better prices, but as always the results mail to the average/worst scenario to cover all)
5 runner builders went in search of their 4th lay, and they got that on the 10th runner at 2.94, but a poor result see them go behind.............They then had their 5th and final lay (the 11th runner) at 2.82, and a good result see them claw a chunk back and concede 0.8 targets at the very very worst .....(Again a target was achievable with better prices)
4 runner strategy (bank builders) £400 bank. Max 25% target £100
1st lay £100 to win as much of the £100 target @ 3.1 max. Result positive. Win £47
Total bank now £447
2nd lay £149 to win the remaining £53 @ 2.32 max. Result negative. Lose £70
Total bank now £377
'Free' lay bought average/minimum profit £3
Total bank now £380
'Free' lay bought average/minimum profit £2
Total bank now £382
3rd lay £191 to recoup the £18 needed @ 2.16. Result positive. Win £18
Total bank now £400
So with levels and no room for error with just one potential lay left, they call it a day here.
Overall result. Level. (I'm aware that with slightly better prices a target was hit, but the results mail to the average/worst to cover everybody)
***********************************
5 runner strategy (bank builders) £400 bank. Max 25% target £100
1st lay £80 to win as much of the £100 target @ 3.1 max. Result positive. Win £38
Total bank now £438
2nd lay £109 to win the remaining £62 @ 2.32 max. Result negative. Lose £82
Total bank now £356

Total bank now £400
4th lay £200 to win the £100 target @ 2.94. Result negative. Lose £194
Total bank now £206
5th lay £206 to recoup as much of the £194 @ 2.82. Result positive. Win £112
Total bank now £318
Overall result. Concede 0.8 of a target at the very very worst. (I'm aware that a target was achievable with gaining slightly better prices)
***********************************
Traders had to concede a little on the 10th runner at 2.94, but all others see them win a bit, or break level, so they win a little on the day and so well played...
So what a strange day that was with all those drifts! anyhow builders who finished level will wonder how, but with a couple of free bets they were made to wait and wait, but I'm sure most got those slightly better prices at least (some big gambles on a couple) and so they would've hit and well played if you did. Rollers made hay with hitting 2 targets, so they played well and good stuff. Have a good evening and speak soon with this evening's workings......
Marc.

Morning.
The races, runners, and prices, to work around for this afternoon then, as follows....
2.10 Lingfield. ALNWICK (3.3)
Our price 12/5 (3.4) and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 3.1 or under, we'll go in for a lay. *Please note that I've very recently had to go over this race again, due to the late withdrawal of 'Lorikeet', who was the original favourite. Not sure why I'm saying this, as matters not really*
2.30 Fontwell. BREMEN (2.6)
Our price 7/4 (2.75) and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 2.44 or under, we'll go in for a lay.
2.40 Lingfield. PRINCE CHARLEMAGNE (3.2)
Our price 23/10 (3.3) and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 3.0 or under, we'll go in for a lay.
3.00 Fontwell. MASSINI SUNSET (2.9)
Our price 7/4 (2.75) and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 2.44 or under, we'll go in for a lay.
3.20 Catterick. MEDIA MAN (2.68)
Our price 9/5 (2.
and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 2.5 or under, we'll go in for a lay. *Traders be aware that this fella likes to lead in his races*
3.30 Fontwell. SWORDSMAN (2.7)
Our price 9/5 (2.
and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 2.5 or under, we'll go in for a lay. *Traders be aware that this one 'may' race very prominent in this type of grade*
3.40 Lingfield. AUGUST GALE (2.58)
Our price 2/1 (3.0) and so a LAY is the call at current odds. We'd lay up to 2.7 or under. *Please note that more emphasis has gone on early markets for clues for this race*
3.50 Catterick. HIGH STANDARD (2.76)
Our price 9/5 (2.
and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 2.5 or under, we'll go in for a lay.
4.10 Lingfield. SILCA DESTINATION (2.42)
Our price 7/5 (2.4) and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 2.1 or under, we'll go in for a lay. *Traders be aware that this one likes to lead, or race very prominent in its races*
*Please note that 'Use-the-force' was withdrawn at 16:34 'yesterday, and so is of no significance to us, so please ignore. Just saying in case the race is delayed and then it would look like a non runner if you're not aware*
4.30 Fontwell. HERALD ANGEL (3.25)
Our price 5/2 (3.5) and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 3.2 or under, we'll go in for a lay. *To be honest I found this runner hard to price up, mainly due to showing good improved form last time with a first time tongue tie, but now it's been left off! so not sure why, and just saying it's made it tough to Price up, but happy with the 5/2, so win or lose I'll shut up1*
4.40 Lingfield. TEN DOWN (3.2)
Our price 13/5 (3.6) and so a LAY is the call at current odds. We'd lay up to 3.3 or under. *Traders be aware that he likes to lead in his races, although there is other speed in the race, so obviously we'll hope it spoils!*
4.50 Catterick. LUKSAR (2.88)

5.10 Lingfield. WILLIAM BLAKE (2.7)
Our price 19/10 (2.9) and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 2.6 or under, we'll go in for a lay. *Traders be aware that this stable's runners (Mark Johnston) can tend to take the lead 'if' they really fancy the trip (up in trip, should appreciate it) and there's not a lot of pace on early, so worth bearing that in mind*
5.20 Catterick. PRESENT GESTURE (1.97)
Our price Evens (2.0) and so no bets can be advised at current odds. If we see 1.7 or under, we'll go in for a lay.
All races priced up with non runners taken into account, up until 10:10am.
That's what we have to work around for this afternoon then. Never easy, and never expect it to be especially with so many races lacking strength in depth this afternoon, but we 'just about' have enough about us to go into battle, so discipline to the maximum and take advantage of any prices that come our way. Good luck and speak soon...
