Where about should we expect Ak47's cat? Not sure if it would be at the onramps to the highways or on the race track or at the robots leading to the highways - if there is such a big crime problem in the area then surely a simple request to the company that provides security on track could see two cars patrolling the roads around the track would suffice and normally you get a slew of people leaving after the last race which should prevent robberies - I don't get reason why criminals would suddenly think that the racetrack patrons would be easy targets - you would then be presuming that the punter has a pocketful of money due to winnings or are you concerned that they will come oncourse and hold us up? more chance in a family resturant i think!! And just so you know when next i see you i will be drinking coke minus the brandy so i can dodge the bullets - !!!

I agree that the loss of assets was out of line but what can we do? It is necessary to have checks and balances and ABC and other bodies have a roll to play in this - i'm just looking foward - that's my approach and though it is a struggle sometimes the ideas expressed on this forum may infact influence the future of racing. As you know i have no hidden agenda as i call it as i see it - Turrfontein is the only solution we have at present so i'll support it until it fails as we need more races and more people trackside - the irony of the matter is that there are good racing people involved on both sides of the fence and meeting of the minds would benifit all concerned

I think that,in principle, we all agree with your positive stance and making the most of what remains of Gauteng's racing facilities.

However, the harsh reality of the location of Turffontein and it's present-day surrounds makes it a place to be avoided in broad daylight, much less than risk life and limb there at night.
As a racing veteran, I mourn the loss of Newmarket and night racing more than most but I, for one, will be giving this new set-up a miss.

To be fair i really dread the trip to the vaal more as i pray never to break down on that long stretch of road and i don't think i will be racing there in winter when it gets dark so early and you hit all the traffic at Gilloolys on your way back home - oh for a perfect world (was on track for the first night meetings and really had good times there - the excitement created by that free pick seven - i think it was a pick seven - was another fond memory for me) though i do like the more relaxed atmosphere nowdays- was very stuffy in some of the venues with old money etc -

They are talking about night racing.
Not during the day, night time sun is down can you picture it.

No place to have a family time.

mr h it should be obvious to you that the pavillion, the jockey club and silks are all accessed through the same gate as the turffontein track and are guarded by the same people. get real, there is a clear danger to people going racing there at night. don't bother cleaning your glasses, ignorance is bliss.

Does not bother me anymore - i'll wave to you from the grandstand - I wonder if you are or ever were a regular racegoer(or a member of the RA for that matter)

Thank god we have resolved this and night racing can resume. I dont give a flying f**k about environmental or horse issues, just bring on the night racing
