Vaal Lightning Delay????

I was sitting at the track.

Most people around the room were convinced they should have been racing a lot sooner than they did.

Why would the stipes have held off for so long??

There have been several incidents of lighting striking the Vaal (I'm sure the camera tower was struck) - I've been there when the clubhouse was struck and it sounded like a bomb going off - no reason to risk people's lives and no harm done as the meeting was completed.
