"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Thursday 27th March Workings...

Afternoon.
This afternoon completed, and went as follows......
The 1st runner we wanted 3.2, and with being around 3.3 on arrival and then dropping down to us and beyond, we had a lay at 3.2 max. The lay looked in trouble, but dug deep to get the win, so frustrating, but the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it..........
The 2nd runner we wanted 1.3, and with being around 1.35 on arrival and then dropping down to us and slightly beyond, we had a lay at 1.3 max. The lay yet again looked in trouble, but yet again dug deep to get a win! so again frustrating, but that's the game. Traders very easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it..............
The 3rd runner we wanted 2.44, and with getting around 2.24 on arrival, we had a lay at around 2.24. The lay got the splits to get a hard thought win, so another favourite goes in and the way it goes. Yet again traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it........
The 4th runner we wanted 2.56, and with being around 2.96 on arrival, and although dropping down quite a bit, the price never hit our lay price at any stage at all, so a race to avoid for all. The runner was left clear after the leader fell at the last, so another favourite wins, but a very good leave this time..........
The 5th runner we wanted 3.5, and with being around 3.2 on arrival, we had a lay at around 3.2. The lay was beaten, so a good result.........
The 6th runner we wanted 1.6, and with being around 1.66 on arrival, and not dropping down to our lay price at any stage at all, it was a race to avoid for all. The runner ran a very poor race and was easily beaten, so 'one that got away in hindsight'...........
The 7th runner we wanted 1.6, and with being around 1.73 on arrival and although dropping down, we never see our lay price at any stage at all, so a race to avoid for all. The runner was given a poor ride with being made go too fast throughout, and paid the price at the end with being very tired and well beaten, so 'one that got away in hindsight'.........
The 8th runner we wanted 3.2, but a non runner and 7.2% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 3.04 (3.05 nearest exchange price). The price had drifted to around 3.2 on arrival, and then dropped back down to us and beyond, so we had a lay at 3.05 max. The lay was nicely beaten and so a good result........
The 9th and final runner we wanted 2.0, and with being around 2.44 on arrival, and with not coming down to our lay price at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner was given too much to do and finished 3rd, so another poor ride, but 'one that got away in hindsight'...........
WELL PLAYED/BATTLED..................(4 from the first 4 (100%) went and won - then a couple coming very close to lay prices and getting beat, to bring more frustration, but e dealt with a tough and tricky day well enough, and no damage done.)
'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them) had to concede 0.4 of a target..............They started on the 1st runner, and then after a very tough early battle, they ended up conceding 0.4 of a target after a successful 5th lay the 8th runner).........
Bank building strategy/target players had their 1st lay (the 1st runner) at 3.2 max, but a poor result see them go behind early...........They then had their 2nd lay (the 2nd runner) at 1.3 max, but another poor result see them give a bit more away...............Then came their 3rd lay (the 3rd runner) at 2.24, but yet another poor result see them go further behind...........Then came their 4th lay (the 5th runner) at 3.2, and a good result see them claw a bit back, which left 4 runner builders conceding 2 targets on the session!....
5 runner builders continued, and went to their 5th lay (the 8th runner) at 3.05 max, and a good result see them claw a big chunk back and so they end the session conceding 0.4 of a target...

Traders either won, or broke level on all their trades, so they did as well as they could and walked away with a little profit, so good stuff guys...
So a bit of a frustrating day with that very tough start, and then a frustrating time of coming close to laying, only to not lay and see them get beat! so always frustrating, but no real harm done in the end.
4 runner builders had to give a bit back this afternoon, but although it's never what we want, it's not a bad effort when 4 from the first 4 go and win! so they'll accept that and look ahead to tomorrow. 5 runner builders will be happy that they came through the early bombardment, and a 0.4 of a target loss will not bother them when looking back. Rollers too had to concede a little, so again after that very tough start, they'll settle for that and look ahead to tomorrow.
Marc.

That's what we have to work around for this afternoon then. Looks a tricky and testing session to be honest, so we'll certainly need that discipline to the maximum as always. We still have enough within our armoury to warrant going into battle though, so we'll have a go and see if we can make a few quid. Good luck and speak soon with the results mail from this afternoon, plus the workings for this evening's racing..
