WESTERN KING On looks he's built to go further but ran a cracker over 1600m first run out the maidens so appears versatile and could sneak a place in this field
TWILIGHT SAMURAI Has shown some promise since winning maiden, place chance
SHIPWRECK Heavily supported to win maiden last time so expect more improvement. Needs to show more before earning a recommendation at this level
JOE FLYING BY Took a long time to win maiden with most attempts over the marathon trip but still young and plenty room to improve as he matures
SULLA Looks held by others in this race but can sneak a place
TRAIL O GOLD 3rd run after a rest and on current form, likely winner
BOONGARRY Battled to win maiden and rested
RAMBOS SECRET Strong finisher. The lurker
ROYAL BANNER Moderate form, looks held
Trail o gold has run 3 excellent races since his rest and if he holds that form then should win this. He has the powerful looking Matatu beaten on their last start but it did go the other way when they met the time before. A number of sneakers in a this race should the principals fail

WINTER QUEEN Exceptionally impressive looking filly. Disappointing last run and can only get better
EUROPA Bad draw again, much stronger opposition. Cant recommend
MISS FAIRFAX Has been improving with every start and hard to assess in this type of field. Has the scope to get in but others preferred
ONE WAY Just out maidens, could be competitive with further improvement
MOI PARK Rested almost a year and now 2x claims. Watch
RICHFULL Form runner and in with a big chance
CLASS OF HER OWN Needs to show more. Rested
DANNYS CUE Moderate even by maiden standards so can't recommend
APPLE OF MY EYE Massive improvement over last 3 runs since returning from rest and a chance in this field
MISSKARA Very poor
STEFFI Always just off them. place at best
DESERT ATTACK Moderate and struggles to find a place
Richfull has the form to win this but no good thing. Winter Queen must surely start firing to match her looks so watch closely. Apple of my eye is putting in the kind of improvement with each run that indicates a winning chance in this field and One way caught the eye with her maiden win last time.
Race 6.
SYMBOL OF LIGHT Alarming betting drift last time when returning from a rest; post race reportedly stressed & coughing. Question mark concerning fitness/wellness coming into this 2nd run after a rest, big runner if at peak
LADY SUPREME Appears to have a preference for this course and should be competitive if at peak
CATWALK BELLE Much improved last run following a year of poor efforts. May be coming back to form and can't be ignored
UNIQUE Excellent last run and a decent looking filly. Meets her strongest field to date and with further improvement could be a lurker. Watch
BELCANTO Nice filly, likely to be needing 1200m - 1600m to show her best and a definite runner
FOUR LADIES WILD Good show when returning from rest. Has ability and right in here if coming on from last run
MISS MANDELA 3rd run after a rest. Good last run against far weaker, well weighted and a small chance in this field
QUEENS FLIGHT Unlikely to improve enough to trouble the leaders
MS GOLDFINGER Very well in here at the weights and could surprise
Competitive and hard to assess. Barring Queens Flight the entire field is in with a realistic chance of winning. Unlikely to be any value available in this race with all the unknowns.
Race 7.
BLUE HEAVEN Always hovering around midfield at the finish and no reason to expect anything more tonight
CHARLIES ISLAND Ultra impressive formline with sprint distances included in his domination of the locals. If he returns fighting fit should have no problem disposing of this field
KAHALAY Promising 2nd run after a rest last time and has the track record to be in the top 3 here
GLAMOUR SCENE 1st run after a rest. Place chance
RED FLYER 1st run after a rest. The principle lurker, has ability but needs to be at peak to have a chance. Fitness unknown
JET MAN Has been racing over further. Hard to assess over this distance
HAIL THE DUKE Moderate recent form, improvement needed to have a chance here
GROBAN JOSH Little to recommend
HONEY SNATCHER Hopeless form even in Kimberley. Waste of a good draw
First issue here must be Charlie's Island's condition after a short break. Fitness question mark also with Red Flyer who has shown enough to be a top contender in this company but has been off the track for 3 months. Kahalay had an impressive 2nd run after a rest last time but hasn't competed around the turn in almost a year. Jet man has been campaigning over the middle distances now back to a sprint so there's a lot of unanswered questions in this race.
Race 8.
APPLE A DAY Top quality stayer returning after a rest. On the short side and likely to just be a prep run for the winter season
OUTCOME Awesome KZN filly but harshly treated at the weights going against top quality male opposition
NORTHERN TRIBE Excellent last two runs against decent company. Toughest test to date and others preferred
LORD OF THE SEA Looks like feature race material and should enjoy the extra. Has won last 3 and a big runner if holding condition. Horrific draw to overcome
ST RAPHAEL Outgunned last time. May well be better than that and should be right there
WEST COAST GOLD Expect improvement on last run and will be better over the extra 200m. Chance
LIGHT SPECTRUM Talented but fitness ? returning from a rest. Chance if fighting fit
WIDE COUNTRY 38 races for 7 wins and never been over the distance. What now?
OLYMPIC GOLD Impressive return from a rest when looking unfit on the canter past. Proven at this level and a big runner if showing the expected improvement
HONOUR SCORE Raider from the Vaal, could sneak a place
MOSCOW RISING Impressive looker but hasn't done enough lately to instill confidence at this level
ART OF WAR In the deep end but improving all the time. Smashed a a field of no hopers last time, just as any one of these runners would've done if in the same race. A big ask to show at this level even with good draw & bottom weight
A teaser for the up and coming season of Kings. Tough as always with no stand out contenders. For the shortlist; Lord of the sea, West coast gold, Olympic Duel and St Raphael but this is a race fraught with unknowns

JOLLY JAMES Moderate form prior to rest albeit against far stronger
NORMAN CHAMPION 2nd run after a rest. Poor form
PROCURER Has ability and most (20/24) runs have been over 1200m or less. A rare appearance over 1400m and meets far weaker here. Big chance
EL PADRINO 4 month rest. Shows promise but a hard ask in this line up
KETCHUP scratched
ACE OF HEARTS Raider from the Vaal. Here for more than just the bikini lines
CHIGGER YELLEM Smart looker and on the upgrade. should be right there
IRISH AFFAIRE Not disgraced last against very strong field but moderate form before that
RUBY OF RANGOON Cruised in for maiden victory, more still to come but a tough ask in this field
KEVINOS BOY Disappointing last and unlucky when getting beaten by the nod of the head. In with a chance but perhaps not suited to the short run in
SEA RAIDER Would've won last time but had no running room at a crucial stage of the race. Nice strong looking individual and a big runner
SPLENDIFICO Poor second run after a rest last time and should do better here. Chance
Tough race again. Sea Raider has been beaten before both by Kevinos Boy and Splendifico. Perhaps still on the upgrade and therefore in with a winning chance but the short price of 22/10 is unrealistic considering the collateral formlines. Chigger Yellem looks like he's going to be a decent sort and comes into this win winning prosepcts. Procurer meets his weakest field in ages which puts him right in with a big chance against this lot
