"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Tuesday 8th April Workings...

Afternoon.

This afternoon completed, and went as follows......

The 1st runner we wanted 1.7, and with being around 2.04 on arrival and although dropping down a little (1.75 lowest matched), the price never came down to our lay price at any stage at all, so a race to avoid for all. The runner ran a poor race - plus wasn't given the best of rides. So was subsequently beaten, and 'one that got away in hindsight'.......

The 2nd runner we wanted 2.4, and with drifting to around 3.0 on arrival and although dropping back down, the price still never dropped to our lay price, so race to race players had to avoid the race. The runner was nicely beaten, so the drift beat race to racers to the punch. Grr! Early traders happy though.......

The 3rd runner we wanted 2.2, and with being around 2.34 on arrival and then dropping down to us and slightly beyond, we had a lay at 2.2 max. The lay won without too much fuss to be fair, so the way it goes.........

The 4th runner we wanted 1.8, and with being around that on arrival and getting shorter, we had a lay at 1.8 max. The lay won well enough, so again the way it goes..........

The 5th runner we wanted 2.7, and with drifting to around 3.15 on arrival and just getting bigger, race to race players had to avoid the race. The runner came in 2nd, so the drift justified and beat race to racers to the punch. Grr! Early traders happy though........

The 6th runner we wanted 2.9, and with being around 4.0 on arrival and not coming down to our lay price at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner was beaten and so another drift justified today and 'one that got away in hindsight'..........

The 7th runner we wanted 3.1, and with being around 3.95 on arrival and then tumbling back down to our lay price and beyond, we had a lay at 3.1 max. The lay was nicely beaten, and so a good result.........

The 8th runner we wanted 1.2, and with being around 1.43 on arrival and not coming anywhere near our lay price at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner went and won well, so a good leave.........

The 9th runner we wanted 3.45, and with being a well supported 2.84 on arrival and getting shorter, we had a lay at 2.84 max. The lay looked in trouble a couple of times, and then looked sure to be passed late on - but to total frustration he dug it out to hold on and win! so the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it........

The 10th and final runner we wanted 3.2, and with being around 3.8 on arrival and then tumbling down to us and slightly beyond under good late support, we had a lay at 3.2 max. The lay was beaten and so a good result...........

WELL BATTLED...........(2 from the first 4 (50%) went and won - and 4 from the 10 in total (40%) - so mix that with several big drifters and it was too tough to get to grips with today)

'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them) Had to concede 1.85 targets.............They started their 1st strategy/target on the 3rd runner, and after a big battle with winners and drifters, they went to their 5th and final lay (the 10th runner) to recoup as much as they could at 3.2 max, and did! so they end the session conceding 1.85 targets....

'Bank building' strategy/target players had their 1st lay (the 3rd runner) at 2.2 max, but a poor result see them go behind early......They then had their 2nd lay (the 4th runner) at 1.8 max, but another poor result see them go further behind..........Then came their 3rd lay (the 7th runner) at 3.1 max, and a good result see them win a chunk back..........Then came their 4th lay (the 9th runner) at 2.84 max, but a poor result see 4 runner builders concede 3.6 targets on the session.....

5 runner builders went to the last runner (the 10th), and got a lay at 3.2 max, and a good result see them concede 1.85 targets on the session...

Traders had to concede a little on the 3rd runner at 2.2 max, and the 4th runner at 1.8 max, and so although all the others see them win a bit, or break level, they still ended the session giving a bit away, so not the end of the world, but still a little loss and they look to tomorrow to rectify that.........

So it was one of those sessions where we just couldn't get to grips with it. Winners and drifters doing us no favours, but in the end we didn't do too badly and suffered a little loss. So not what we want with giving back a bit of those profits, but sh*t happens and we'll just accept it and return for tomorrow. Well battled lads, and have a good evening...

4.30 Southwell. DIRICULOUS (3.2)

All races priced up with non runners taken into account, up until 10:07am.

That's what we have to work around for this afternoon then. A mixture of make ups etc, so enough to keep us interested. Never easy, we know that, but we do have enough within our armoury to warrant going into battle, so that's what we'll do. Discipline to the maximum and take advantage of any prices that go our way. Good luck and speak soon..
