not eye-popping news actually as she is really an internationally bred horse that just happens to be trained by a South African trainer (the training feat is more immpressive than the horse in my opinion)different story if it was Lucky Find - just expected something that would be more juicy - no offence mean't but i expected Scandal and i was hoping for a doping story or a local horse sold for millions - i'm sure you get my drift - gave my paper away from dissapointment not because of the content!!!Bit like waiting for breaking news on 702 about Zimbabwe only to hear that Bob has won the elections!!!!

Ribot, Nijinsky, Mill Reef, Brigadier Gerard, Grundy, The Minstrel, Troy, Shergar, Dancing Brave, Reference Point, Mtoto, Nashwan, Generous, Lammtarra, Montjeu, Galileo, Dylan Thomas - just some of the names that have won the King George. Now a filly bred in Aus by a South African and bought back for R190 000 at the Equimark Vintage Yearling Sale in Cape Town, trained and owned by SAfricans is favourite for this race. I have to say I'm disappointed that ABC members are not excited by this.

The point is that anyone could have checked the betting on the net - it was not some hidden breaking news story - had she been a LOCALLY bred filly i'm sure excitement would have been in order - no doubt she is a top filly but if the Sheik buys a horse bred in South Africa and it makes it internationally i'm sure we'll all get excited - London News, Ipi Tombi and Horse Chestnut are examples that spring to mind -

with the international blood we have here now it is time to make our mark with locally bred horses hence my fondness for LUCKY FIND - that is more impressive for me as any local owner could have gone to the sales and bought him without having to fly to Aus to shop. With the blood that has been brought in by various breeders i'm sure we'll produce a top local horse soon which will really set the world alight - i'm flunking for SEVENTH ROCK to be a top sprint stallion in time and who knows we might see him becoming a shuttle stallion if the vets sort out the travel issues

Agree to disagree Dave - very soon a Champ will be born from local raced parents and then you'll see yearling prices go crazy

Re: Re: Breaking news

Well the reason we are at this point is that tipster in his wisdom called the thread breaking news - there was no breaking news unless tipster had exclusivity on the betting site from which the betting came - people then bought the paper looking for some breaking news where they found none!!!hence the various requests to clarify the news - it's called pin-hooking and my point is that we need to get our facts straight neither the dam or stallion had any connection to south africa prior to the purchase so this is an imported horse no matter how good she is and you try to fool yourself otherwise - why not claim Asiatic Boy and lingari while you are at it - Lucky Find is a South African bred The stallion was imported to stand here as was Kitalpha for Zimbabwe to enhance the local breed - my point is that we now have the internatinal blood to produce winners anywhere in the world so let's do that instead of claiming foreign bred horses as our own - much like the Aussies claiming Clyde Rathbone as one of theirs -
