besides the 3rd and the 4th race the other races are very poorly supported..the stakes are normal and the 8th race is a 100k race for juvenilles so why the poor sized fields

Well one reason for the smaller than usual fields, is that the track is not wide enough to cater for bigger fields; still if the 3rd and 4th race could attract the maximum runners of 12, why not the others? One explanation could also be the conditions of these races; it is common knowledge that Charles Laird is involved with organising the day, and it seems he also had some influence in the type of race programmed.
