Good morning to the CLAN after a super weekend.
The 3d's, worked well Friday and Saturday, but the fun day blew the last days "discipline" out the window, but boy was it fun.
You tend to get a bit more "info" than normal on these open air, meat on the braai and drinks flowing days.
It started with "Rebel King, is a cripple and will not win" well I backed another horse in the race, and still missed the winner! Was told that Cappie in the last is a flying machine and took as much 5/1 as possible, also got beat, in addition Pacific Warrior was the real deal to beat Mans Mood, so the heavy bet was on the Pacific and the "loyalty" bet on Mans Mood. Financially a poor day, but the fun was worth it and "easygoes" mate makes him look organised. He started by leaving his rather full wallet in the make shift tote area and only by luck did another member of our picnic group see it before the 20 security guards on duty, followed by him lighting the fire with tote tickets [ including a winning one ] and to put the cherrie on the cake when Mans Mood won they climbed on the golf cart and shot off into the sunset, in search of the winners box as we watched the TV in anticipation of a superb speech, only to see Jooste's private jumping castle taking a pounding at the far end of the track? On returning the only reply was "we could not find the horse, I guess we drove too far"?
Well a fun day had by all, but I am glad its only once a year, and thanks to Oscar, I am off to see the back specialist 3 months ahead of the waiting list, just hope the procedure does not require any open flame surgery as the Pretoria East hospital could take days to put the flames out!
Racing today on a non-race day Kimberley, France and Sweden, makes it easier not to have a punt, but Winsor, [ lovely town and track ] Newcastle, where Innominate looks best and Wolverhampton where Spencer should win on Wood Chorus.
You may have read the lads are off to the beautiful Cape and we wish them a profitable trip, the good news is that Bulldozer is splashed over the headlines here!
