[In a "handicap" race should a horse who has won say seven bread and butter races be weighted more than a horse who has won say six group races?
What if the former horse has won all his races in Kimberley?
What if both horses have subsequently lost their form over many races? Should that be the end of their racing careers?

In "handicaps" what about weighting horses on income earned over a lifetime or a period. Past value of money would have to be normalised into present value but thats not difficult.[/quote]

I see no problem here. The trainer/owner must choose their races based on what their believe is in their charges ability. Quite honestly.... why would a 6 time Kimberley winner want to take on what is clearly a champion(6 times grade 1 winner.
For me MR is like socialism... a great concept but for the flawed human element. If every horse arrived at the track fully primed and ready to race.... Viva MR ....sadly :( ... never going to be the case... there is money and prestige involved and everyone will be looking to exploit whatever they can.
For me probably the best option is to incentivise running on merit... big difference between stakes.

BTW ,the NHA were asked to comment as to why there were no questions asked in the race that Ruby Ruby ,won when 20 Kgs out at the weights and BACKED FROM 50/1 TO 16/1 (nothing sudden or unforeseen about that)
The official response is an absolute joke!
(I have read it but it was not addressed to me so I obviously cannot post it!)
