Trainer W Nel - Plattner
10 years 3 months ago
I know Plattner has taken some stick here for her training/ home breeding policies before. Especially trainer changes .. However, the trainer W Nel has actually been doing a sterling job over the last month or two - would be interested to see the stats over the last two months with quite a few new babies racing, some decently bred ones at that. I have shown a nice profit over the last few weeks, having good success.

I like the fact that they are running not sitting in boxes

Obviously he will do well because Plattner has disposed of many or if not all of the string that was with Govender and has provided Nel with a new string to work with.
His current strike rate has been good. Let's give him a proper chance to prove himself and then examine the stats after a season or two.
Good luck

Those horses were all ready to come out, yogis had told me they have nice horses to come out,but to win maidens race is easy with a horse with little ability it's after, we're you place them and to take them to the next level,if the horse is good enough, but there are a lot of ppl at Plattners that will help him, unless they want him out, hahaha.

I remember when Crawford left Plattner I was told he would battle what a joke won more group 1 than he would ever with Plattner and same goes for Yogas watch this space
As for the current trainer he will soon realise that the grass is not as green as it appears imo

Have always followed Marchant was a good baby. You leave the Plattners horses at this stage out of your exotics at your own peril!!!

Plattner Racing Perennial under performers:
Last 108 months/ 9 years
324 unique horses raced.
4144 races competed. 563 races won. Pretty damn good 13.68 strike rate
Grade 1s won. 1 . last won December 2021
Grade 2s won. 5 . last won November 2021
Grade 3s won 16. last won May 2025
That seems like a pretty poor result for 9 years of racing. The goal cant be to win maidens and MR64s . Must be graded races.
Maiden races won - 219
Graduation Plate races won - 4
MR61-69 races won - 43
MR70-79 races won - 86
MR80-89 races won - 58
MR90-99 races won - 31
MR100 -104 races won - 2
Pinnacle Stakes races won - 12
Listed races won - 13
Non Black Type races won - 14
Class 3 4 5 races won - 59
For a yard that has such brilliantly bred horses and the amount of winners they have, does not convert to Graded success.
