Good morning all on a hot dry sunny day.

I did mention that Humble Tune runs today on my Take It Easy post.

Our good friend Oscar has the very impressive Naarah running in race 2 and with the field being reduced to 5 runners , should be hard to beat.

Humble runs in race 6, it's a difficult race.
It's a stronger field this time but we are drawn well and have a top jockey.
MDK horse Run As One is hot fav and going for a three timer.
It's a 3 year old with big draw with also 60 kilos.

I am happy with the challenge and the price of 8/1 makes it a decent ew chance .

Ps Candice has the big lad fit and well 👏

Let the games begin

Good Punting

was looking forward to Naarah taking on Bella Chica.

In Humbles race a few horses have had the handigodfairy looking after them.

But have a small double on Naarah and Humble. Cash Crusaders now take false teeth as collateral.

Not that easy today - thoughts ...

R1: Red Hot could be a bit of value - beat the favorite comfortably last time and had excuses in her penultimate; Fort Snow long-time maiden, but pole position today, so could challenge again

R2: Slightly worrying that Naarah does not feature in the Speed Ratings (which I find useful in a sprint) - also all of Naarah, Muleta and Big Eyed Girl are very speedy and may cut each other's throat up front - so maybe Before the Dawn can run them down

R3: Weak Maiden Handicap - Orgetorix has most scope for improvement, but who knows; Heart of Harlem has been showing good pace and could hold on for a place

R4: Another handicap - but there is only 3 kgs between top and bottom weight - at a push I'd go for Noble Striker

R5: Lots of scratchings - Bureau de Legends from an in-form stable looks the right one

R6: Very competitive Classified Stakes - Irish Rain looks to have a lot going for him from a good draw, not a lot between Humble Tune and Capetown Affair, while many others look to have chances at the weights

R7: Open handicap where I prefer After Hours from Corvette Captain despite their last runs, as I think that After Hours is much better at this track; Edward Longshanks a big danger from pole position

R8: Nightmare race to close; I think Allez Le Blue looks nicely priced, but I am including 7 runners in the PA - and still not confident

Enjoy B)

VAAL CLASSIC TRACK THURSDAY OCTOBER 14 FORMGUIDES, SELECTIONS, PERMUTATIONS

by David Thiselton

Race 1:

Preview: GILDA GRAY (1) is capable of better than her last two starts and has Khumalo up from a good draw over a suitable trip. PINK LEGACY (3) is well bred being by Querari out of Summer Cup winner Flirtation (Silvano) and only has half-a-length to find on Gilda Gray from a 1600m race in June. FORT SNOW (2) is a battling maiden but if producing her best from pole position over a suitable trip she could earn here. RED HOT (4) beat Pink Legacy by three lengths over 1200m last time but is not the most reliable although she has a shout if producing her best over a trip she stays. COVERMEINSUNSHINE (5) is capable of earning. (David Thiselton 1-3-2-4-5)

Race 2:

Preview: NAARAH (3) won well last time over this trip and is the one to beat. BIG EYED GIRL (6) is promising and carrying a nice galloping weight is the biggest threat. MULETA (5) has pace and could also be involved in the finish. (David Thiselton 3-6-5)

Race 3:

Preview: SCOTTADITO (4) was making some progress late last time over 1450m so has a shout from another good draw here as she now carries 1kg less than last time in this maiden handicap. RA’ED (2) is drawn in pole and might have benefited from his last outing which followed a close to five month layoff and he has had time to recover from that outing. LYNTY’S LEGACY (5) is 3.5kg better off with Heart Of Harlem for a 1,35 length beating over 1400m. ORGETORIX (3) could be involved if reproducing his last run. HEART OF HARLEM (10) should enjoy the further step down in trip and could earn if reproducing his best maiden handicap run when second over 1400m in August. GLOBAL PLAYER (1) has disappointed in his last two starts and has to carry topweight but he is capable and can’ be ignored. MERLINS BOY (9) is interesting over a step up n trip being by Willow Magic out of a Northern Guest one time winner over 1200m who has produced the like of Supercilious, a five-time winner from 1200m to 1600m. (David Thiselton 4-2-5-3-10-1-9)

Race 4:

Preview: LION OF THE DESERT (1) can prove himself better than a 78 merit rating over this suitable trip as the form of his easy win over 1450m last time has been franked. FUNKY MUSIC (6) is distance suited and well drawn and ultra consistent. SACRED LOTUS (2) is in fair form and is drawn in pole over a suitable trip. NOBLE STRIKER (9) has the form to be involved. USHUAIA (3) has ability and could be a runner running fresh over a trip too sharp. (David Thiselton 1-6-2-9-3)

Race 5:

Preview: BUREAU DES LEGENDE (1) won well when stepped up to this trip last time and from a good draw can follow up off a reasonable opening mark of 83. TIMBIVATI RIVER (5) was not disgraced against a useful sort last time over this trip having won well in the maidens over 1450m before that. SERGEI (2) can go close if repeating his third in his last start as he is better drawn and slightly better weighted, this being a handicap compared to a classified stakes race last time. (David Thiselton 1-5-2)

Race 6:

Preview: HUMBLE TUNE (2) is drawn in pole and could start coming into his own as one who has always looked to be a likely improver with age. ORUS APOLLO (3) is well drawn over a trip he will enjoy. RUN AS ONE (1) has a hard task here carrying topweight from a wide draw but he is progressive and represents an in form yard and gave the impression he would enjoy this further step up in trip. RABIA THE REBEL (14) has to be right on the day but if she is right she is a dangerous front-runner and she is the best weighted horse in the race although a wide draw will make it tricky to get to the front. CAPETOWN AFFAIR (10) can be involved from a fair draw if repeating his last start over 1800m. IRISH RAIN (9) also has a form chance here. KINGS CUP (4) could be a runner with a 4kg claimer up if able to overcome a wide draw. (David Thiselton 2-3-1-14-10-9-4)

Race 7:

Preview: EDWARD LONGSHANKS (2) is a rangy, progressive sort and from pole position he could follow up on his maiden win off a reasonable 77 merit rating. CORVETTE CAPTAIN (4) made a fair comeback and should have come on from the run so can be involved in the finish. AFTER HOURS (5) could earn in this line up. (David Thiselton 2-4-5)

Race 8:

Preview: ALULA’S STAR (9) won well in the maidens and could also be a player. SEEMYVISION (1) has the ability to be involved despite carrying topweight. SINGFOSUSIE (3) looks promising. (David Thiselton 9-1-3)
