Media Release: GallopTV

#835524

The current Tellytrack Partnership, involving Phumelela (in Business Rescue), Kenilworth Racing and Gold Circle will be dissolved on 28 February 2022. As a direct result of that dissolution, with effect from 1 March 2022, Tellytrack (Channel 249) will no longer be broadcast on the DStv bouquet. No doubt, the potential absence of KZN horse racing on DStv will be causing all racing fans, some disquiet. Gold Circle wants to assure the public that negotiations with 4Racing are on-going regarding the reciprocal use of product to facilitate multiple broadcast channels encompassing all South African racing, and we are hopeful of settling on an agreement before 1 March.

Gold Circle understands its obligation to deliver the best possible broadcast of its racing product to the racing public. In this regard, a High-Definition broadcast of KZN and International racing has been launched and is available, at no charge, via live streaming ( www.galloptv.co.za ). The same service will also become available via free to air (FTA) satellite decoder with a dish installation on IS-20 (same installation as DStv and OVHD). Various brands of free to air (FTA) satellite decoders (e.g. Space HD FTA Decoder) are available at Space TV outlets countrywide ( www.spacetv.co.za/contact/ ) or online retail websites like www.takealot.com for R500-R1000. Once purchased and installed, there are no monthly subscription fees payable.

Gallop TV has set up a support call centre (031-314 1902) and email support service (support@galloptv.co.za) to assist customers with any queries they may have regarding access to Gallop TV.
Ends.

Just an observation. Gold Circle seem to be doing as much as they can and communicate to us. 4 Racing seem to be the bully boys and say and do mothing to enlighten us, their customers.

watching Ozzie racing this morning. The 249 product is far superior to 240 product. 249 ending on 28 Feb will be a disaster for SA Racing and betting pools. I would suggest people in charge check viewing figures per each channel before they scrap 249.

I see that the 4-Racing CEO and COO were guests at the Hollywood.bets Durban July launch. There may be light at the end of the tunnel.

I did notice the guests and was slightly surprised but also thought might be some light🤞🙏
Surely with the current situation it could be regarded as a bit embarrassing to show face considering the GC racing is basically blocked 🤬

I would not read anything into their attendance of Mary's little lambs pertaining to resolving the impasse between GC and 4Q’s racing product. A few days earlier, Mary’s other little lamb was dissing a couple of people on Twitter including Mr Vaughn Marshall regarding this matter by stating:

“You don’t have the facts, swapping products gives racing away for free. A future we cannot afford”

So why not educate Mr Vaughn Marshall and the racing public on this subject. Give us the facts. e.g. WHAT IS CAPE RACING PAYING 4Q RACING to have their product aired on Channel 240?

Cape Racing (Kenilworth Racing) is (has) been the charity in the industry that keeps on receiving. There is absolutely no ways in an arms length agreement that Cape Racing can afford to have their product aired by 4Q Racing on Channel 240 and GC cannot afford to pay comparable rates. Sounds like 4Q Racing has an axe to grind with GC and the grinding was started by another one of their little lamb, John Evans.

Educate us Sir with FACTS and Commercially sound arguments why a negotiated settlement on this impasse cannot be reached.

Also, explain to us how South African Horseracing can survive if you as 4Q Racing has an exclusionary business model when it suits your agenda which is contrary to the sermons you were preaching regarding unity and racing in SA is too small not to be under one unbrella.

I think most (if not all) will agree with the statement 'SA racing is too small to be split' - compromise is the only way forward imo

As an aside, I read various comments referring to '4Q Racing' - where does the Q come from all of a sudden

Sure looks like that's the attitude right now. Much like the previous lot!! Take it or leave seems to be the sentiment.

Both parties need to ask themselves one simple question...do you have a product that people are lining up to watch and will hence pay to watch or do you want / need customers and must therefore do everything to get your product to a wide an audience as possible?
