Red flag or just SA's favorite slogan...that's racing

2 Robert Burns 1.74 1.82 1.67 1.33 1.25 1.43 1.52 1.67 1.82 1.74 1.82
11 Douglas 16.67 20.00 14.29 8.50 8.33

Both from the Crawford stable.
Robert Burns, stable rider on this one, gets early money so the bookies drift Douglas out to 20-1.
Then the stable heap on Douglas with the bookies and the tote...R5-40 a win
Robert Burns the horse many made the one to beat runs third to last never looking a winner.
Douglas the stable companion which took a lot of money wins.

Should the stipes open an enquiry or is it just a clever coup on the part of the Crawford stable?
Did they know Robert Burns wasn't ready for the race, purposefully or not?
It would be great if the stipes asked questions here as to me it does look a bit suspicious.

Fantastic post Durbs.

The stipes are too busy counting whip strikes to be bothered about trivial things like this. Punting is not for sissies please don't involve them in your conspiracy theories.

Shakes his head at the poor tote pools and wonders when those in charge will understand why this game is dying. The Bipot/PA/P6 barely turned a bar yesterday. When there's more faith in the casino equipment giving a fair result on black or red you have problems.

How does one know if it's real money these days ? Besides the fact that the bookies sponsor these trainers we have to trust the same people that put these prices up, used to enjoy listening to the claims coming through, I'd say well done to thus stable for getting this right but he was on my TV telling me it was very important to support the tote and leave the open bet, since that advert has dissappeared I haven't seen him broadcast these messages through other avenues , everyone in it for themselves, follow suit

Bob,a while back, used to post all the betting moves straight from a bookies association website. But guess what....they blocked him and he wasn't able to access the site anymore. So sometimes we guess if it's real money or not as the bookies are very shrewd and not in the game to give money away and without backup shown to the public they could very well manipulate the odds.
Not knocking Hollywood as they have done plenty for horse racing, and other sports too,but a bookmakers firm sponsoring trainers and jockeys just doesn't sound right.
Our stipes are just too weak so a lot of underhanded things go on with our racing.
Why not be like HK where it's so hard to get away with anything that isn't above board.Looks dodgy, they ask questions right away, like the same day most times.

Bookies have had lines to trainers, owners and Jocks(and grooms) since punting began - Better they pay for the info openly -
