Hollywoodbets Durban July week.
1 year 9 months ago - 1 year 9 months ago
Good morning all .
We have arrived early for the July week and looking forward to a great time and hopefully a profitable trip.
There are a couple of meetings on the Poly to start the week but it’s probably better to have a “wee” bet at the Curragh in Ireland to give us something in the kitty for the July.
Colin Keane has been stealing the limelight from Ryan Moore lately and Westover was very impressive in the Derby and one wonders how good Desert Crown might be.
However Ryan has two very good mounts in the first two races today and both are 7/10 shots, the double works out at 2/1 ish.
I understand that STATUETTE is very special.
On the subject of good or great horses, what about the performance of Truesham yesterday carrying 10st 8 lbs, if my old school days are not behind me, that is over 67 kilos . Considering that 35lbs or 16 kilos of saddle and lead weight, it must have been a mission for young Hollie to weigh in .
The Goodwood Cup at the end of July should be a cracker and hope for a bit give in the ground for Truesham to run.
Hollie will possibly have the option of Stradivarius and not forgetting Kyprious and Mojo Star for a classic race.
We have many other threads running on the July and plenty information from our posters and many experts.
I am personally giving the Pick 6 a go and will not over complicate as we have a few bankers and predict a smaller payout for many versus the normal bomb results on big days.
We also have a nice competition running, so check the site for details.
I must also mention that Humble Tune makes an appearance on Tuesday at the Vaal and has now had more warnings that Boris Johnson and we will certainly have to make a call this time on his future.
We have Bling riding and I will again have my normal ew bet but your guess is as good as mine if the old Humble will show up?
Hope to see a few old faces over the next week and celebrate what should be a great fun time in Durban.
Good Punting

Dave, I am in disbelief that we had full exotics from Kenya, and not even so much as a Trifecta from the Curragh.

True Thor it’s mind boggling
I don’t normally play exotics but in the Group 2 fillies race where I mentioned STATUETTE was something special the trifecta paid €135 ......

Did not want to start ANOTHER July thread so just as a follow up.
We having a great time in Kloof and we were delighted with Humbles short head second and takes a bit pressure off.
Must say it really hits home when you receive only R9840 for a hard fought second and it only covers 3/4 of one months stable fees.
You really have to be in it for the love of the game.
I watched the race from a pub in Gillets and a great atmosphere 👌
We attended the GC cocktail party last night and what a great vibe, met plenty interesting good racing people and there is certainly a special atmosphere about this year's July.
The Hollywood team were also out in full strength and a great night had by all.
We are going to Springfield tonight for the HW price stretch evening and will see what I can get for Safe Passage to at least cover the price of the Ubers .
If Mrs S did not drink we would be fine 😉
We are racing from the Winning Post function hall on Saturday so looking forward to a good day.
My thoughts at this stage
Pick 6 for R420
8
4 x 9
1x2x7x13x14
2x3x4x9x10x12
8
1x3x6x7x8x9x12
Might also take Safe Passage as a banker in another perm with fields in race 6 and 9?
PA for R18 x 10 is R180
11
8
9
2x7x13
10x12
8
3x9x12
Good Punting 👍
