Hollywoodbets Scottsville Wednesday 7 June 2023 – Comments by Andrew Harrison
RACE 1
1 CHAMPONELLE 15 PLINIAN 14 HONSHU 16 GREENSIDE
Summary: Mostly first timers and those that have run have not shown much. Best could be CHAMPONELLE (1) who was not too far back on debut and experience could count. Going on trainer’s comments, HONSHU (14) and PLINIAN (15) could prove the pick of the first timers. (Andrew Harrison: 1-15-14-16).
RACE 2
2 BABY LOVE 8 JANE’S VISION 1 FAIRY TRIP 6 VISION TO ACHIEVE
Summary: BABY LOVE (2) made good improvement at her second start going down narrowly. She has seen the course and should run a good race. JANE’S VISION ( has raced green in both starts and can still improve. FAIRY TRIP (1) raced green on debut around the Greyville turn and can do better down the straight. VISION TO ACHIEVE (6) was second best last run but did improve on her debut effort. (Andrew Harrison: 2-8-1-6).
RACE 3
9 PIECE BY PIECE 4 MOUNTAINSOFTHEMOON 2 PORTO ZANTE 1 QUERANDI
Summary: Open maiden. PIECE BY PIECE (9) has shown up well in two sprints and the older contingent are not much to write home about. MOUNTAINSOFTHEMOON (4) was not far off at long odds last start and with Keagan de Melo up one needs to take notice. Glen Kotzen saddles two. PORTO ZANTE (2) was not too far back on debut and is sure to improve while QUERANDI (1) found some market support on debut but failed to show. She could surprise. (Andrew Harrison: 9-4-2-1).
RACE 4
2 MADISON BLUES 4 SAFE SPACE 6 JURY’S OUT 5 TRITON
Summary: MADISON BLUES (2) is overdue and could be hard to beat in this field. Blinkers and the poly may have been his undoing last start. Back on turf sans blinkers should see Paul Lafferty’s runner home. SAFE SPACE (4) has shown some ability but is lightly raced. He tries first time blinkers. JURY’S OUT (6) was a touch disappointing last run but all three starts have been in the soft. He goes this trip for the first time for Wayne Badenhorst. TRITON (5) is a long-time battler but seldom too far back. There is not much depth to this field and he has a strong money chance again. (Andrew Harrison: 2-4-6-5).
RACE 5
5 VALERIA’S DREAM 2 MARIA COROLINA 1 ALITTLEBITNAUGHTY 9 LADY SERENA
Summary: Wide open. VALERIAS DREAM (5) won well last time out. The Peter Muscutt stable is in outstanding form and he has booked apprentice 1.5kg claimer Siphesihle Hlengwa to counter the three-point rise in the handicap. MARIA COROLINA (2) ran well below par behind Valeria’s Dream when last they met but is back over her preferred course and distance. ALITTLEBITNAUGHTY (1) has put in two fair efforts since returning from the Cape. She is badly out at the handicap but does have bottom weight and on her day is capable of a surprise. LADY SERENA (9) is in good form over the trip and has a money chance. (Andrew Harrison: 5-2-1-9).
RACE 6
5 PINEAPPLE EXPRESS 3 CHEEKY LADDIE 2 GOLD INDEX 9 UNSOLVED RIDDLE
Summary: PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (5) has improved in blinkers and took on stronger last time out. The trip suits and he has a competitive draw. CHEEKY LADDIE (3) has been consistent over sprints but may now be looking for this extra furlong. GOLD INDEX (2) has improved in blinkers and was not too far back in feature company last time out won by stable companion Strawberry Bear. He looks the stable elect judged on jockey bookings. Stable companion UNSOLVED RIDDLE (9) made major improvement with first time blinkers. He jumped from a tough draw that day and a repeat can see him home. (Andrew Harrison: 5-3-2-9).
RACE 7
7 STANLEY PARK 6 PRINCEKRESH 4 RAFA’S BOY 3 SUPER FAST
Summary: Wide open. STANLEY PARK (7) is over his best trip and has been consistent. His last run was on the poly and the switch back to turf should suit. PRINCEKRESH (6) is a distance specialist and with a 4kg and can give 4kg claimer James Lihaba his first winner. Gareth van Zyl has two strong runners in RAFA’S BOY (4) and QUEST FOR THE BEST (1). The former has the stable rider aboard but the latter has a claiming apprentice up. Both are in form. SUPER FAST (3) was given a hefty handicap mark after his maiden win but he is effective over the trip and has Keagan de Melo aboard. (Andrew Harrison: 7-6-4-3).
RACE 8
10 BLESS ME FRED 4 SHELL SEEKER 1 AULD MUG 14 THE GLIDING FISH
Summary: Open. BLESS ME FRED (10) was found out by a wide draw on the poly last run. He does seem best over shorter but was in cracking form prior to that. Mark Dixon has two strong contenders in THE GLIDING FISH (14) and the SHELL SEEKER (4). The former may be the stable elect but the filly has been knocking at the door for some time now and a strong rider aboard could finally see her home for her second win. AULD MUG (1) has improved in blinkers and the extra furlong could bring out the best. (Andrew Harrison: 10-4-14-1).
