Disgraced former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste has died, News24 has confirmed.

Details around the incident are still uncertain.

The news comes a day after the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) has hit Jooste with a fine of R475 million.

well that was a surprise. i also expected a stalingrad defence certainly not an instant admission of guilt. rather like van vuuren. seems like these fraudsters cant face the music, maybe they cant deal with the fall from grace and giving up the high life. i wonder if paying the ultimate price really is the cowards way out. harakiri was for those who had committed serious crimes, brought shame upon themselves and a way to restore a families honour.
