Anyone thinking gates is an innocent should watch his ride on Royal Edition on 21 December where he almost took down 2 or 3 horses...he got 7 days for that...I know the optics look bad but I'm not sure if i would not have done the same as Lerena...actually Lerena should not have reacted on track but rather give him a few slaps in the jockey room...racing is not lawn bowls ..you can easily die or get seriously injured if one jockey thinks he's driving a bumping car...

That's very out of character for Gavin so he must have really pushed his buttons. That said there is no place for that in racing.

Lets see what the wise men of racing decide what to do about this ??

Very sad situation
If you were wondering why the Sunday Turffontien thread had 7 pages it was.due to this incident.

Gavin has always come over as a first class and very religious person with mild personality.

His brother is the fighter in the family 💪

Not sure why this rush of anger but unfortunately the HRA will have to make the call .....

.....not really.... although I know a good few from the Lerena clan I have never actually met Gavin nor ever been in his company.....but how soon we forget that jockey room brawl when Manne Fortune went in teach Gavin a lesson and came off second best.....that family not only produces horsemen but boxers too.....

handbags at dawn. if a horse can take a dozen whacks a jock in a body protector should be able to take a slap or two. bet gates doesnt have a mark on him. obviously doesnt look good but thats because society is just so woke. cant believe so many are clutching their pears in horror
